The first trailer for The Good Doctor season 6 is finally here, and it teases that some more characters will be put in jeopardy following that shocking season 5 finale.
Viewers will recall how the excitement of finally witnessing Dr Shaun Murphy and Lea Dilallo tie the knot quickly gave way to a horrifying incident that left two key characters’ fates hanging in the balance.
The emotional episode saw Nurse Villanueva’s violent ex-boyfriend Owen sneak into the hospital disguised as a delivery person in order to stab his ex and leave her for dead. However, after discovering a gravely injured Villanueva, Dr Audrey Lim was also caught in the crossfire.The season 6 teaser trailer begins with Shaun and Lea sharing their first dance, but things soon turn dark as they realise what’s been happening in the hospital and Shaun decides to help, while we discover that Owen is holding three hostages.
It appears as though all those worries are justified, since executive producer David Shore previously told TVLine that fans should be concerned about what might happen in season 6.
“I hope they’re worried. That’s the whole point!” he joked back in May. “We don’t do anything that’s not meaningful. As writers, we want to make sure that each story is significant.”Shore also teased that we can expect “a huge amount of intensity and fun” from the season six premiere.
“It’s difficult because it’s the immediate fallout [from the finale],” he said. “Lim’s journey is going to be a big part of it, we have some nice things planned for Glassman (Richard Schiff), and, of course, nothing but wedded bliss for Shaun (Freddie Highmore) and Lea (Paige Spara).”
