We hope Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) likes golf, because The Good Doctor is officially retiring after its upcoming seventh season. Ahead of the season premiere, ABC released a trailer for the final episodes, giving us a peek at how Shaun is balancing work and fatherhood.
With Season 7 on the way, we will try to answer all your questions, such as when The Good Doctor will premiere, who will be in Season 7 of The Good Doctor, and where you can watch and stream The Good Doctor right now.
The Good Doctor Season 7 latest news
At the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in February, co-showrunner David Shore talked about working on the final season of the series. “This has been a weird year, so we’re only doing 10 episodes unfortunately,” Shore said. But he added that “it’s such a blessing for us and we’re excited.”
“We get to plan a great finale and something that the fans will love,” co-showrunner Liz Friedman added.
Highmore also teased the upcoming season at the press tour. “There will be some tragedy, there will be some sad times,” the actor said. But there will also be moments of hope. “Ultimately it’s been less about the big flashy cases,” Highmore said of the series. To him, it’s the moments of human connection that stand out. “It’s more the little looks that happen during surgery,” Highmore said.
The Good Doctor Season 7 trailer
On Jan. 31, ABC revealed the trailer for The Good Doctor’s final season, which finds Shaun reluctantly leaving his family at home as he returns to work, Lea (Paige Spara) confronting Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff), and Morgan (Fiona Gublemann) dealing with baby troubles of her own.
The Good Doctor Season 7 release date
The Good Doctor will check back in for its seventh and final season on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10/9c, right after The Rookie. Previously, The Good Doctor aired on Monday nights. The final season will consist of 10 episodes. Here’s ABC’s full schedule for the 2024 midseason.
What will The Good Doctor Season 7 be about?
Based on how Season 6 ended, with Dr. Murphy becoming a father, we imagine a majority of the season will be dedicated to his adjustment to fatherhood.
A video released alongside the final season announcement appears to confirm this, with more footage of Dr. Murphy as a new father, as well as a highlight reel of the first six seasons.
Who will be in The Good Doctor Season 7?
Series regular Brandon Larracuente, known for his role as Dr. Danny Perez, will not be coming back full time for Season 7 of The Good Doctor, according to TV Line. Dr. Perez first appeared in the early episodes of Season 6 but quickly became a recurring character due to his relationship with Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Henderson). The character’s relapse into drugs was a pivotal part of the series finale, but this may also be an easy way to explain his disappearance from the prestigious surgical hospital.
Larracuente will not be returning because he took on a new role for an upcoming Prime Video series, On Call. It has been speculated that Dr. Perez may still have occasional guest appearances on The Good Doctor if Larracuente’s filming schedule allows it.
Hill Harper, who played Dr. Marcus Andrews, is leaving the show entirely as Harper is making a bid for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. Dr. Andrews resigned as the president of St. Bonaventure at the end of Season 6, so this move is not entirely surprising.
Besides Larracuente and Harper, all other main cast members are expected to return for Season 7 of The Good Doctor. Chuku Modu, who plays Dr. Jared Kalu, has been promoted to series regular for the seventh season, per TV Line.
The Morning Show Season 4 release date prediction
In June, actor Mark Duplass revealed that Season 4 will begin shooting in July. Apple TV+ hasn’t announced a premiere date yet, but we can likely expect it to stream sometime in 2025.
The Morning Show Season 4 cast
Two cast shake-ups have already been announced: Marion Cotillard will join the ensemble as Celine Dumont, described as “a savvy operator from a storied European family.” A few days after Cotillard’s casting announcement, it was confirmed that Julianna Margulies will not return as Laura Peterson, Bradley’s love interest, for Season 4, with Variety reporting that Margulies was offered a “one-episode appearance in Season 4 that she turned down.”
Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Karen Pittman, and Greta Lee will reprise their roles. Whether we can expect to see more of Season 3 additions like Jon Hamm’s Elon Musk stand-in Paul Marks or Nicole Beharie’s anchor Chris Hunter remains to be seen.
