Aptly named Date Night, the four new parents, Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore), Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara), Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelman) and Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) tried to keep their spark alive in the wake of parenthood.
But by the end of the episode, the only person who went out was Dr Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) who spent the evening with Dr Lim’s (Christina Chang) mother who was in San Jose for a drug trial.
Glassman had struck a deal with Lim that if she attended two board meetings without him, he would take her mum out shopping on her behalf.
And so Glassman and Dr Lim’s mum went shopping, walking and talking about their lives and enjoying crepes from a food truck.
While it wasn’t seen how their night ended, it did appear that the ABC medical drama was setting up the beloved veteran surgeon for some much-needed romance in his life.
Who plays Dr Lim’s mum in The Good Doctor?
The Good Doctor welcomed actress Bess Armstrong to take on the role of Dr Lim’s mum in the latest episode, Date Night.
With an acting career spanning almost 50 years, the 70-year-old has been in a number of shows and films.
Armstrong kicked off her career on the 1970s sitcom On Our Own, before making various appearances in series such as The Love Boat, Sweepstakes, Jekyll and Hyde…Together Again and The Great Space Coaster.
It was then in 1983 that Armstrong starred in the third horror adventure film, Jaws 3-D, opposite Dennis Quaid and Lea Thompson.
Arguably her biggest role though came in 1994 when she was in the hit drama My So-Called Life, portraying Patty Chase, the mum of Angela Chase who was none other than Claire Danes.
Fast forward to the past 10 years and Armstrong has continued to pop up in the biggest shows around.
