There’s just one episode left of The Good Doctor. The ABC medical drama will come to a close on Tuesday, May 21, and it will see he doctors at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital taking on two of the most personal medical cases of their lives.
Former series regular Antonia Thomas returned as Dr. Claire Browne in The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 9, “Unconditional,” and she’s not the only familiar face that’s coming back before the series ends. ABC previously announced that Brandon Larracuente will return as Dr. Daniel Perez along with Thomas. Since Larracuente wasn’t seen in Episode 9, he must be making his appearance in the series finale.
The penultimate episode ended with two massive cliffhangers that put Claire and Dr. Aaron Glassman’s (Richard Schiff) lives in danger. Here, we break down what’s to come in The Good Doctor series finale based on promo, photos, and TV Insider interviews with Freddie Highmore and series creators David Shore and Liz Friedman.
The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 10, “Goodbye”: Tuesday, May 21
Here’s the official description for The Good Doctor series finale: “As the doctors consider their futures, they work together to solve one of the most important cases of their careers.”
In Episode 9, “Unconditional,” Claire returned from her practice in Guatemala for a personal medical examination. What she thought was a benign mass was actually breast cancer. Her friends at St. Bon’s performed two procedures to remove the cancer and all seemed well until Claire fainted at Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) and Park’s (Will Yun Lee) wedding. Kalu, whose former romance with Claire was rekindled in the episode, rushed her to the hospital. Claire is conscious in The Good Doctor series finale promo, but Kalu fears having to say goodbye when he just got her back.
As for Glassman, his cancer has returned. He told Shaun in Episode 9 that it’s a terminal glioblastoma, and Shaun will fight to “find a way to save them both” in the series finale.
Fans can expect to see this season’s cast, along with Thomas and Larracuente, in the final episode. Bess Armstrong as Dr. Audrey Lim’s (Christina Chang) mom Eileen could also return, and we’ll hopefully see Jerome Martel (Giacomo Baessato) to keep the late Dr. Asher Wolke’s (Noah Galvin) memory alive in the final episode.
