The Good Doctor actor Will Yun Lee is set to take on a lead role in brand-new psychological drama Shelter Me.
The actor, known for his role as Dr. Alex Park on the critically acclaimed medical drama, will put on another white coat, as he assumes the role of Erik Song, a charismatic doctor saving lives in a hospital in New York.
The film is set in the COVID-19 pandemic and consists of an anthology of different storylines that will also feature Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore actor Oliver Masucci, Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Bisset.
The synopsis shared by Deadline reads: “Its protagonist is Jon Boylan (Masucci), an A.I. research scientist who is unable to intimately connect with members of his test group (Nolte and Bisset).
“Jon subsequently develops a remote monitoring system that exposes personal struggles, weaknesses and strengths during isolation that come to a reckoning, as their layers of personality begin to peel away.”
Shelter Me, which marks Dawn of the Dead actor Jake Weber’s directorial debut, has no confirmed release date yet, as production has not started on the project.
The news comes after it was confirmed that there will be a seventh season of The Good Doctor, ahead of the season six finale on May 1.
A female-led spin-off series is also in the works, titled The Good Lawyer, that will follow Kennedy McMann’s character Joni, a young lawyer set to make her mark.
While most of the details are under wraps, Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman is returning to the small screen to play a Joni’s colleague Janet on the show.
