Dr. Claire Browne, played by Antonia Thomas, is returning to St. Bonaventure for The Good Doctor’s final season. TV Line reports that Thomas will reprise her role in two Season 7 episodes, the series finale included. And that’s not all. Brandon Larracuente, whose character Dr. Danny Perez left at the end of Season 6, will also return for one last hurrah. What will bring each of the fan-favorite characters back to San Jose? That remains to be seen.
Thomas starred in The Good Doctor for the show’s first four seasons and last reprised her role in Season 5, when Claire flew in from Guatemala (where she went on to work as her hospital’s chief of surgery) with a sick patient.
She’d previously told Deadline that she left the show to “explore different creative opportunities.”
“For me, as an actress, having versatility and creativity has been something that’s been really, really important,” she said. “I’ve come from the British system where you play a role, you film it for a couple of months because seasons are only six episodes long, and then you can do something else, and I think after dedicating four years to Claire and her journey and really, really exploring the character, I am just now ready to try something new, ultimately.”
Larracuente, meantime, left his post as Dr. Perez after Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Henderson) administered his character a life-saving dose of fentanyl, prompting the recovering addict to return home to Texas for fear of a relapse. Surely, many fans are hopeful that his return means Drs. Perez and Allen might finally have a chance at love.
