The Good Doctor: Carly breaks up with Shaun
The Good Doctor is currently airing its third season weekly on ABC but some fans are still lamenting the loss of one of the major original characters – Dr Jared Kalu (played by Chuku Modu). He left The Good Doctor back in season two of the show, much to the dismay of fans – but what has the actor revealed about his exit?
Why did Dr Jared Kalu leave The Good Doctor?
However, viewers will remember how he had a difficult first year as a resident at the St. Bonaventure Hospital.
This included getting fired from the hospital after beating up a staff member following their sexual harassment of Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas).
He managed to get his job back after blackmailing the hospital but then at the end of the first season it seemed he was leaving.
He received an acceptance letter from the Denver Memorial Hospital offering him a transfer there.
His final episode came at the start of season two when he bid farewell to his co-workers.
The actor has not revealed his exact reason for leaving the show but has since gone on to play a major role in The 100.
He plays Dr. Gabriel Santiago in the series and was upped to a series regular ahead of the beginning of season seven.
Modu also gave an emotional goodbye to his role as Jared, posting on Instagram after his exit back in 2018.
Along with a photo of his character, he wrote: “Nothing but love love love love love, I’m filled.
“If only you knew the good vibes and energy that’s in constant motion when the cameras aren’t rolling.
“Thank you all for teaching me more than you will ever know. Thanks for the love my peoples, on to the next one.”
