Meanwhile, Drs. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) and Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann), who recently resumed their relationship, discover baby Eden has a life-threatening cardiac defect and requires an operation to prevent heart failure.

How Did The Good Doctor Season 6 End?
The Good Doctor first bowed in 2017, and stars Highmore as autistic surgeon Shaun Murphy, who overcomes personal and professional hurdles while working at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.
The Season 6 finale concluded with the birth of Shaun and Lea’s son, Steve Aaron Murphy — named after Shaun’s late brother Steve and his surrogate father, Dr. Aaron Glassman. However, Glassman, still upset with Shaun for accelerating the end of his career as a neurosurgeon, opted to skip the first family photo.
Meanwhile, Drs. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) and Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) resumed their relationship with the intention of raising Morgan’s foster child Eden together.
When Does The Good Doctor Season 7 Premiere?
The Good Doctor Season 7 will premiere on a new night, Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10/9c, where it will now lead out of new episodes of Will Trent (returning for Season 2) and The Rookie (returning for Season 6).
An episode count for the strike-delayed Season 7 has not yet been confirmed — though TVLine previously reported that established hits like The Good Doctor will likely see as few as 10 episodes during the 2023-24 broadcast season.
Watch The Good Doctor Season 7 Promo
In tandem with the announcement that The Good Doctor will end with Season 7, ABC released a farewell promo (see above). It contains highlights from the previous six seasons and culminates in a first look at one of the medical drama’s very last episodes.
In the scene, Shaun prepares to leave for work and tells new mom Lea and their infant son Steve that he is going to miss them.
Brandon Larracuente Is Leaving The Good Doctor Season 7
TVLine can confirm that Brandon Larracuente, who played Dr. Danny Perez in Season 6, will not be returning to The Good Doctor for Season 7.
In the Season 6 finale, Danny suffered extensive internal injuries in an ambulance crash. In the aftermath, Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Samoné Henderson) made the difficult choice to forgo the recovering addict’s wishes. She gave him fentanyl to prevent a fatal cardiac arrest, saving his life but effectively ending their budding romance.
Danny agreed that Jordan made the right call, but he also feared a potential relapse. Alas, he made the decision to leave San Jose and return to Texas to be close to his family, bringing Larracuente’s one-season stint as a series regular to a close.
Larracuente has already booked a leading role in Dick Wolf’s forthcoming Prime Video drama On Call, starring opposite Pretty Little Liars alum Troian Bellisario.
Hill Harper Is Leaving The Good Doctor Season 7
As TVLine exclusively reported in November, Hill Harper (aka Dr. Marcus Andrews) has exited The Good Doctor ahead of Season 7, amid his real-life bid for the United States Senate.
“Hill Harper feels strongly that there is a crisis in American democracy — too often, government only works for the rich and powerful while the rest of us struggle to find a voice,” Harper’s campaign spokesperson previously told TVLine. “Hill is dedicating his efforts full time to fixing that, and he’s running for the U.S. Senate as an active union member to give working people more of a voice in Congress.”
Harper was one of four remaining series regulars from The Good Doctor Season 1, including leading man Freddie Highmore, Richard Schiff and Chuku Modu. In the Season 6 finale, his character, Dr. Andrews, resigned as St. Bonaventure president, paving the way for Harper’s exit.
Chuku Modu Is Returning for The Good Doctor Season 7
TVLine was first to confirm that The Good Doctor has elevated Chuku Modu to series regular for the upcoming Season 7, where he’ll reprise his role as Dr. Jared Kalu.
Modu was a cast member when the ABC medical drama first premiered in 2017. Initially, Jared worked under Dr. Melendez (former series regular Nicholas Gonzalez), alongside fellow residents Shaun and Claire (fellow former cast member Antonia Thomas). Jared and Claire even dated for a while, but broke up toward the end of Season 1.
