Jim Parsons secretly checked his fantasy football scores while filming The Big Bang Theory
Have you ever wondered what Sheldon Cooper’s browser history is like? It turns out there is a lot more sports stuff than you would’ve guessed. While the Big Bang Theory character wasn’t a fan of athletics, his actor Jim Parsons was another story. Parsons was particularly into fantasy football, a hobby he shared with Raj Koothrappali actor Kunal Nayyar.
“Kunal and I have a lot to talk about on the set because of fantasy football,” Jim Parson said during a panel at PaleyFest 2016. “And I came last this year and last year,” Nayyar said. “And I came second. I lost in the championship round,” Parson recalled.
Parsons then revealed that he used to check his fantasy football scores during episode tapings. In fact, some of it made it onto the finished episodes, we just didn’t notice it because we can’t see Sheldon Cooper’s computer screen. “I did one time tune Sheldon’s onstage computer to a Rockets game. It was a long scene, it was live onstage, and I was like, ‘Mother of hell, we have actual internet on this thing.’ I got the live score on, and I was like, ‘I can watch this while we’re doing this! This is so great.’”
Keep this in mind the next time you watch a Big Bang Theory rerun. If you ever see Sheldon on a computer, chances are it’s Jim checking his fantasy football scores.
Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state, then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started….then some other stuff happened and we got some sitcoms.
In 2007 Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady brought The Big Bang Theory to CBS, and television hasn’t been the same since. Audiences fell in love with the four adorable geniuses, and their street-smart (but clumsy) next-door neighbor Penny.
Sheldon Cooper is an unforgettable character, whether he’s saying ‘bazinga,’ or repeating Penny’s name as he knocks on her door. As such, it wasn’t long before the character’s backstory was explored in the sitcom Young Sheldon. Like the Big Bang it was named after, the television franchise has grown, taking on a life of its own.
