Fans are clamoring for Bridgerton season 4 already after it was announced that the new chapter would focus on Benedict’s love story with Sophie.
Yerin Ha was just cast as Sophie opposite Luke Thompson‘s Benedict.
Now, we’ve gathered every clue we have about season four’s release window…and we’re going to be waiting a while.
It has taken Netflix roughly 2 years between each season to release new episodes. A production listing that leaked previously shared that the series would be filming from September 2024-April 2025. Post production on season 3 reportedly took 14 months, according to Forbes. Meaning that the earliest we’d see Bridgerton‘s fourth season, if they took this exact timeframe, would be June 2026.
Now, if they happen to speed things along, perhaps it’s possible for the show to be released earlier than that!
Shonda Rhimes, the show’s executive producer, previously spoke to these long delays. She shared that Netflix, and particularly the way they produce TV shows, is partially to blame for how long it has taken between seasons.
“They [Netflix] want to write everything, and then they want to shoot everything, which is — it’s very counterintuitive to the way I learned to make television,” Shonda shared with Variety in May 2024.
“Now I think that’s just how it is. We’re really working on the idea of if this is the field we live in, then how do we make the field faster? And so we really are thinking about stuff such as permanent sets and lots, and things like that that will really help us speed the process up,” she continued.
The Variety writer then pointed out that if they’re making 8 Bridgerton seasons, the last won’t be released until 2034.
Shonda responded, “Right. It takes so long, and that’s frustrating to me. To me, we should be able to write and produce shows at the same time, and that’s not necessarily possible at this moment. It should be, but it’s not.”
