The Night King & Other Game Of Thrones Characters Go Full Emo In New Art
A new batch of AI-generated images imagine what The Night King and other key Game of Thrones characters would look like if they went full emo.
New Game of Thrones AI art gives the show’s main characters, including the Night King, emo makeovers. Based on the book series of the same name by author George R.R. Martin, the hit HBO fantasy first premiered in 2011, introducing viewers to the dangerous world of Westeros and its lords and ladies all vying for the Iron Throne. The Game of Thrones season 8 finale brought the series to a divisive end in 2019, with audiences saying farewell to characters like Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), among others.
Now, members of the Game of Thrones cast are reimagined in emo form in a new batch of AI-generated images shared by AI Dreams. Check out the images below:
In order, the carousel of images gives emo makeovers to Danaerys (Emilia Clarke), Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), Arya, Sansa, Hodor (Kristian Nairn), and the Night King (Richard Brake, Vladimir Furdik).
How Game Of Thrones Got Character Drama Right
While Game of Thrones features a number of standout battle sequences, the show’s greatest strength was arguably its character drama. The series follows a wide and varied cast of characters, all of whom had different motivations and layers, and who often conceal their true natures from each other. Cersei, for example, was ruthless when it came to gaining and protecting her power, but she was also a mother who cared deeply for her children.
This battle for control of the Iron Throne sees different characters rise and fall at different times, with the rivalry between the Starks and the Lannisters providing the basis for much of the larger conflict during earlier seasons. Big figures like Cersei and Robb Stark (Richard Madden) were complemented by more mysterious individuals like Petyr Baelish (Aiden Gillen), aka Little Finger, and Varys (Conleth Hill). While frequently aligning himself with the Lannisters, Little Finger was always pursuing his own objectives, and it gave depth to the larger, continent-spanning battles taking place.
Unique characters attempting to manipulate each other was enhanced by the ways in which the Game of Thrones episodes balanced their many different storylines, and each plot was given its time to shine. Early seasons of the series also directly connected character traits and decisions to their fates in a way that feels fresh and unpredictable. Eddard Stark (Sean Bean) for example, met his end in season 1 because he attempted to live a life of honor in a dishonorable world. While later seasons lose sight of this, Game of Thrones’ early season character work remains a gold standard.
