“The Rookie” season 7: Will Wesley overcome the “nightmare” named Ivan Hernandez?

And just like that… The Rookie‘s Wesley Evers had better watch his back in Season 7.

Ivan Hernandez, coming off a run as a potential love interest for the Carrie Bradshaw in And Just Like That… (Max’s Sex and the City sequel series), next will turn up on ABC‘s The Rookie as Detective Graham.

Hernandez debuts in the season opener, and will appear in multiple episodes.

Teasing Hernandez’s recurring guest star role during our in-depth Season 7 Q&A on Friday afternoon, Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley said, “He plays a detective at our station who ends up becoming a personal obstacle for Wesley (played by Shawn Ashmore) — but in a fun way.”

In addition to his run as And Just Like That‘s Franklyn, Hernandez’s TV credits include Never Have I Ever and Devious Maids. On Broadway, meanwhile, he has filled the roles of Larry Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen and Billy Flynn in Chicago.

Other new faces set to appear on ABC’s The Rookie when Season 7 (finally!) kicks off Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, include Deric Augustine and Patrick Keleher, who both were cast as incoming rookies.

Augustine, whose TV credits include All American (as Clay), Godfather of Harlem and Shameless, will play Miles, a Texas transfer who despite having two years under his belt, will be a rookie at the LAPD (and thus have to learn the department’s own ways of doing things).

Keleher, of Funny or Die’s The Egos, meanwhile will play Seth, who may seem like the ideal police officer, but the job requires quick, decisive action — and that, alas, is something that doesn’t come naturally to him.
