The Rookie’s Tru Valentino teases ‘you never know’ about return after shock season 7 exit
Tru Valentino took to social media this week to address his heartbreaking exit from hit series The Rookie.
The Rookie’s Tru Valentino could still be open to making guest appearances following his difficult decision to exit the ABC drama this year.
The news broke this Thursday that the series regular would not be continuing his role as Aaron Thorsen for the upcoming seventh season.
Not set to premiere until 2025, the next outing will also add Deric Augustine as Miles and Patrick Keleher as Seth joining John Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion) and his team when the show returns.
Unfortunately, Aaron, a former TikTok star who joined up as a rookie after being acquitted of a murder charge, will not be amongst the main cast.
Tru took to his Instagram page to address the reports on Friday.
He has been a fan-favourite on the show since he first joined as a recurring star back in season four before getting promoted in season five.
“I will always cherish my time on The Rookie, but couldn’t be more excited for what the future has in store,” he shared in his Stories.
“I adore the friends and relationships made while being there. It was such an amazing opportunity, and I feel so lucky to have had the last three seasons.
“Thank you to the best fans in the world. I know I don’t talk much, but I appreciate you all so much.”
In his heartfelt statement, however, he also hinted at the possibility that Aaron’s story isn’t quite finished.
“You never know who may pop back up in the Mid-Wilshire precinct,” Tru teased.
“Until then, 7 Adam 19, this is Officer Thorsen, over and out!”
Despite leaving the door open for a glorious comeback at some point, many fans have still been devastated to learn of Tru’s exit and took to social media to share their appreciation.
“We loved seeing Aaron bond with his LAPD colleagues on #TheRookie & Tru bond w/the cast IRL,” one fan said on X (formerly Twitter).
“We’ll miss seeing him onscreen every week, but we wish him luck in his next adventure!”
“Noooo, Tru brings so much good humor to the show!!!” another viewer said. “It really won’t be the same. I hope to see him in other things.”
A third lamented: “Damn. That sucks. Tru was such a great addition to the cast. I’m going to miss him.”
And a final disappointed fan penned: “I hope Tru leaving was his choice because otherwise the decision doesn’t make sense.
“He is a loved character who has good chemistry and banter with pretty much every other character and needed more in-depth storylines. He will be missed.”
