Given that Lady Danbury is one of the important people in the Bridgerton series, I really hope she replaces one key character from An Offer From A Gentleman. Lady Danbury has been a powerful presence on the show since Bridgerton season 1 and has even appeared in the show’s spinoff, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The Bridgerton supporting cast is one of the things that has made the show as popular as it is, none more so than the formidable Lady Danbury.
Since Lady Danbury has a rich history and is an already established character in the series, it makes her the perfect person to take over one of the most important roles in Benedict and Sophie’s story. While Bridgerton has made a valiant effort to include other characters who aren’t part of the core family relevant to the show, there’s still quite a lot we don’t know about Lady Danbury. Hopefully, Bridgerton season 4 will remedy this injustice by delving more into Lady Danbury’s life and giving her a new story arc.

Lady Danbury Has Been A Significant Character In The Bridgerton Series
In An Offer From a Gentleman, Mrs. Gibbons is the housekeeper and fairy godmother figure who helps Sophie sneak out to attend the Bridgerton ball where she meets Benedict. Seeing that Bridgerton season 3 made some changes to the book, the same thing is likely to happen in season 4. So far, Lady Danbury has had a reason to be in the series because she was an important character in the books. However, Lady Danbury barely appears in An Offer From a Gentleman, which makes her role in the next extry in the series unclear.
The uncertainty about what Lady Danbury’s story arc will be in season 4 makes her the perfect character to take over Mrs. Gibbons role as Sophie’s fairy godmother figure. Mrs. Gibbons didn’t really feature in An Offer From A Gentleman after Sophie left Penwood House because they weren’t in the same house anymore. Lady Danbury on the other hand, is friends with Violet, whom she regularly visits. This makes it more likely for her to meet Sophie and notice the chemistry between her and Benedict.

Lady Danbury has always been invested in helping the Bridgerton children find their spouses because of her devotion to Violet. Lady Danbury’s role in Sophie’s life is even more important because Sophie doesn’t really have anyone rooting for her. Seeing that Sophie is a bastard whose father never claimed her, she has more hurdles to clear than the true-born daughters who are on the marriage mart.

Being Sophie’s fairy godmother figure perfectly positions Lady Danbury to offer Benedict advice.Unlike his other siblings, Benedict’s story with Sophie is uncharted territory. This is why Lady Danbury’s wisdom and honesty is needed to help the couple figure out a way to be together, given that Sophie isn’t the type of person the ton expects a Bridgerton to end up with.

After 3 seasons of Bridgerton, I really hope season 4 will be the season Lady Danbury has her own romance. Lady Danbury has been portrayed as a tough and no-nonsense character in the show, so it will be interesting to see her in a romantic setting that will showcase her softer side. Queen Charlotte revealed that Lady Danbury was stuck in a loveless marriage and then went on to have an affair with Lord Ledger.
If Lady Danbury doesn’t have a romance story in any of the Bridgerton shows, it risks her being a one-dimensional character.
Bridgerton season 3 hinted at a possible romance between Violet and Lady Danbury’s brother, Lord Marcus Anderson. Queen Charlotte also showed Charlotte and George’s love story, so it’s only fitting that one of the biggest characters in the show should have a turn. If Lady Danbury doesn’t have a romance story in any of the Bridgerton shows, it risks her being a one-dimensional character. While her sharp tongue and quick tongue is what makes me love Lady Danbury, I also think there is more to her than the elderly matron who rightfully puts people in their place.
