As endometriosis takes center stage on General Hospital, Kate Mansi is going behind the camera to shed light on the condition that’s affected her life.
Mansi Directs GH for Endometriosis Awareness Month
People broke it first that Mansi (Kristina) is once again taking the director’s seat for an upcoming episode of GH, and for a very special reason. The March 16 episode will follow Molly (Kristen Vaganos) explaining her endometriosis diagnosis to Cody (Josh Kelly) after her recent flare-up sent her to the hospital.
The episode, directed by Mansi, will shed light on the condition and coincides with Endometriosis Awareness Month. “As someone who’s been in this industry for a while, I’ve never even read a script in my life to this day, apart from here, that even mentioned endometriosis,” the actress shared with People.
“My approach as a director, I really wanted to focus on Molly’s vulnerability, but her strength and how so many people with endometriosis often hide behind the strength and resiliency so that we don’t look weak and we just can make it seem like everything’s fine,” said Mansi, who was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2015.
The actress revealed in 2024 that she froze her eggs after it was suggested to her due to her diagnosis. “I froze my eggs at the least ideal time — in Covid, while going through a divorce. And yet, was filled with an immense amount of joy,” she shared on Instagram.
As for Port Charles’ Molly, when she was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2023, she was told it would prevent her from carrying a child, leading to Kristina becoming hers and her then-his and TJ’s (Tajh Bellow) surrogate. Now that Molly’s condition is coming to light again, GH fans will have to wait and see how it impacts Molly and new boyfriend Cody.
