Rather than die or almost die, there are other ways Jay can communicate with the dead in Ghosts season 4. While there would be more than a few opportunities for Jay to fall off a ladder or get electrocuted and be able to see the ghosts due to a near-death experience, the comedy can come up with something more complex. A theory from CinemaBlend suggests that Jay may be able to see spirits in his dreams since Ghosts season 3 revealed that Sasappis’ ghost power allows him to enter dreams, which he did once to talk to Sam’s husband.

Jay’s ability to see ghosts in season 4 could be an extension of this exciting season 3 development. Another option is for something to happen to Jay where he can see the dead for a short time. Being able to interact with the spirits would throw off a significant dynamic for the series, however. While Ghosts could survive without the trope, Jay’s inability to see the ghosts is where much of the show’s humor originates, meaning the series may not permanently opt for his ghost vision. Instead, Jay could have a near-death moment wherein he could see the spirits temporarily.
