Checking in for its 10th season, Chicago Med will be experiencing some major changes, starting with the replacement of showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider, who are stepping down after nine years. Taking over the reins for Season 10 will be Allen MacDonald, which will put a fresh turn on the storytelling, but it’s too soon to tell what direction he will take.

What we do know is the Dick Wolf drama about the lives of the nurses and the doctors employed at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center has seen a lot of cast changes in its nine seasons on NBC, including the departures of Nick Gehlfuss, Brian Tee, Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto. Season 10 is no different as Dominic Rains will be exiting his role as Crockett Marcel, which he began playing in Season 5.

Season 10 will also see the addition of two new doctors: Sarah Ramos as Dr. Caitlin Lenox and Darren Barnet as Dr. John Frost.

With those changes in mind, here is what we do know about Season 10:

Who is leaving Chicago Med in Season 10?

Dominic Rains is exiting his role as Crockett Marcel, a surgeon from New Orleans who heads the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s 2.0 surgical suite. It is unclear if he will return to occasionally guest star or to possibly just to wrap up his storyline.

What happened at the end of Chicago Med Season 9?

Hannah Asher and Mitch Ripley were finally getting romantic, but their time together was interrupted by a call from the ED for Dr. Ripley. His patient was a prisoner suffering from late-stage dementia, which gets him into trouble with the guards and his fellow prisoners when he can’t remember the rules. Ripley asked Dr. Charles for help and the two argued once again about their past together and Ripley’s belief that Dr. Charles did not advocate for him.

In a parallel story, Burt’s dementia was getting worse, but Sharon Goodwin wasn’t comfortable putting her ex into assisted living so she had him move in with her. As the episode progressed, though, she realized that Burt needed more help than she could provide, and she talked to her children and they found a facility where he could comfortably live. Through all this, Goodwin’s boyfriend Dennis (John Earl Jelks) stood by her side.

Crockett lost a patient who needed a transplant but became ineligible when he spiked a fever due to an infection in his toe. Crockett had to make the difficult decision to honor the transplant rules and send the boy home. He died and, as a result, the boy’s father committed suicide. This made Crockett tell Maggie Lockwood about losing his own daughter to leukemia. It may also be the excuse for his departure from the series.

Dean Archer treated a patient from the rehab facility where his son Sean works. Sean is the man’s sponsor, and he takes the relapse to heart, causing a rift with his father.

Pawel, Liliana Wapniarski’s brother, got beaten up and he told the police that it was Dr. Ripley who did it. Ripley didn’t defend himself even though he was innocent. Probably because he thought that the person who beat Pawel up was Sully, Ripley’s childhood friend who is undergoing chemo.

Are there any spoilers for Chicago Med Season 10?

With the new showrunner, it is too soon to tell, but the storyline with Pawel and Dr. Ripley hasn’t been resolved, so it is possible that that will continue.
