The good news is that It’s Not Like That‘s production is based in Atlanta, which is where Will Trent also films. Consequently, co-showrunner Liz Heldens seems confident that Foley can pop in now and then as Seth in the ABC crime drama. Following the season 3 finale, Heldens told TVLine:
“We can shoot [Foley] in and out of our show pretty easily — like, in a day for an episode, so we’ll see how that all unfolds.”
Despite Heldens’ confidence, this conversation took place back in May. It’s wholly possible that things have changed, and Foley has gotten too busy. If Foley can’t return, Angie and Seth will likely begin season 4 broken up. The state of their relationship following the ending of Will Trent season 3 calls for him to be present in the upcoming episodes.
Why Seth & Angie Can’t Be In A Relationship Without Foley’s Will Trent Season 4’s Regular Appearance
Angie Is Pregnant
Angie decided to keep her and Seth’s baby in the Will Trent season 3 finale. She was hesitant at first because she was raised by an abusive mother. However, after fighting off terrorists and being scared out of her mind that she had had a miscarriage (and learned that she didn’t), Angie realized she wanted to be a mom.
Seth assured Angie that he would be on board with any decision she made concerning their baby. But, after finding out that Angie was going to keep it, Seth was clearly over the moon. So, the two Will Trent characters are preparing to have a baby together heading into season 4, meaning Foley has to be present for the narrative.
It won’t make much sense if Angie and Seth stay together if he’s not around to support her through her pregnancy. Becoming a mother is a huge development for Angie. Her childhood was turbulent, to say the least, and her own mom was a monster. As such, Angie’s going to need Seth to help her navigate this next step in her story.
If Foley is regularly missing, that might mean Angie and Seth are in for a breakup in Will Trent season 4. Given Foley’s character, though, it would take a lot of convincing to make their split believable. Seth has been great for Angie, and it would be confusing if he abruptly left her in the ABC police procedural series.
What Angie & Seth’s Possible Break-Up Means For Will Trent Season 4
Angie Might Become A Single Mother
If Angie and Seth break up in Will Trent season 4, we can just add that to the long list of Angie’s heartbreaks. She has been through so much already, and it would be so satisfying to see her in a relationship that isn’t toxic and can go the distance. Will can’t provide that for her; they have too much history.
Meanwhile, Seth is such a breath of fresh air. He comes with baggage, of course, but he appears to be in a great place, having healed from his past pains. Someone like that is ideal for Angie, who is also on her own road to recovery. So, if Seth were to leave her, Angie might hit rock bottom once again.
The best case scenario is if Foley returns as Seth in Will Trent season 4, and he and Angie continue their story.
Angie would become a single mother, which could also be good for her. Whatever the case, Angie’s season 4 story has the most potential. It could go one of several ways, but hopefully it won’t lead her back to Will. The best case scenario is if Foley returns as Seth in Will Trent season 4, and he and Angie continue their story.
