Yellowstone Sequel Series to Bring Back Three Stars of Original Show
Yellowstone will soon come to an end with its final batch of episodes that are now in production, but the story will continue with an upcoming sequel series. According to a new report, at least three Yellowstone stars will return to be a part of the spinoff.
The casting news comes from a new report from Puck, though it hasn’t been officially announced at this time. The report claims that the new series will be bringing back Cole Hauser (Rip), Kelly Reilly (Beth), and Luke Grimes (Kayce). This reportedly came with big paydays for the returning actors, as Hauser and Reilly are said to have been asking for $1.25 million per episode. It’s unclear if the actors got what they want and will actually be paid that amount, though this may suggest that it was nevertheless pricey to get the actors on board.
It has also been reported that Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Pfeiffer may be starring in lead roles in the new show. Of course, it seems very unlikely that Kevin Costner will be involved with the new series, given his controversial exit from the original show. It remains unclear if Costner will make one last appearance with a surprise return in the final episodes of Yellowstone, though the actor recently teased that he’d be up for it, as long as scheduling permits.
What Happens in the Yellowstone Sequel Series?
A logline for the sequel series reads, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”
Hauser previously commented on how there was potential to continue the stories of his and Reilly’s characters after the end of Yellowstone. While he noted (per Country Living) that he was mostly focused on wrapping up the main series, the actor shared that there were some “exciting ideas on the horizon” about where the story could go next.
“I’m so focused on finishing Yellowstone the way it needs to be finished right now—just the show itself. We’ll see where that leads. But I know there are some exciting ideas on the horizon involving Taylor, Kelly Reilly, myself, and some of the other cast members. I’m eager to see where he goes creatively with that. But for now, it’s all about finishing strong and doing our best.”
Yellowstone will return with its final episodes in November 2024.
