Tom Selleck has been spotted in public for the first time since filming wrapped on Blue Bloods, which concluded after 14 successful seasons. The CBS drama, in which Selleck played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, ended with a two-part 14th season.
Recently photographed in California, Selleck, 79, was seen heading to the gym, embracing the sunny weather in shorts and a black t-shirt, complemented by trainers. While he still sports his iconic moustache, he has also grown a silver beard, marking a notable change.
After years of commuting between the East Coast for filming, Selleck has returned to California, where he looks forward to unwinding at his ranch with his wife, Jillie Mack. He expressed his disappointment over the show’s conclusion, sharing with TV Insider that it will take him “a long time” to come to terms with its end. “CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” he noted.
Regarding his future, Selleck isn’t rushing into retirement. He loves acting and hopes to continue as long as opportunities arise, despite acknowledging that the hours can be more challenging with age. After filming, he plans to relax, enjoy family time, and travel.
In a recent podcast appearance, Selleck shared his mixed feelings about his status as a TV icon from the 80s, reflecting on how it has been a lot to adjust to since his breakout role as Thomas Magnum in Magnum, P.I..
