Tom Selleck’s next venture has been revealed after wrapping up a 14-season run on Blue Bloods.
The beloved CBS series, which followed the complex lives of the Reagan police family, concluded in December 2024, leaving fans bidding farewell to over a decade of drama.
Selleck, who played the Reagan patriarch Frank, expressed his “frustration” with the show’s cancellation in an interview with TV Insider.
He commented: “I’m not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, ‘Get off my lawn!’
“I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe.
“My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go. So, how do I feel? It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out.”
Despite the disappointment, the 80-year-old actor isn’t slowing down as he’s already diving into a new project.
His IMDb page reveals that he’s working on an “Untitled Jesse Stone project,” currently in development, where he’ll return as the eponymous character.
Since 2005, Selleck has adapted Robert B Parker’s novels into CBS TV movies, portraying the troubled ex-LA detective turned police chief in Paradise, Massachusetts.
The upcoming film will mark the 10th adaptation of Parker’s Jesse Stone novel series, though it remains uncertain which book will serve as its basis.
With the project still in its developmental stages, it may not see a release until late 2025 at the earliest.
Following the conclusion of Blue Bloods, Selleck isn’t the only one keeping busy.
His former co-star Donnie Wahlberg, who portrayed Frank’s son Danny Reagan, is set to reprise his role in the Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue.
The new series will follow Danny’s transition from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department, where he’ll be paired with a “detective from a prominent Boston law enforcement family.”
Boston Blue is anticipated to delve into the perplexing cases Danny encounters at work, his personal life, and his adjustment to being away from his tight-knit family.
While an official release date has yet to be announced, the show has already been scheduled for the 2025-2026 season.
