Tom Selleck’s Role Recast in Blue Bloods Spinoff Boston Blue with Ghostbusters Actor

CBS’s upcoming Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue, has announced a significant casting move: Ernie Hudson, renowned for his role in Ghostbusters, will portray Reverend Peters, the patriarch of a prominent Boston law enforcement family. This casting choice effectively replaces Tom Selleck’s character, Frank Reagan, from the original series. Hudson’s character will serve as a spiritual and moral anchor in the new series, echoing the role of Henry Reagan, played by Len Cariou in Blue Bloods. His addition brings a new dynamic to the show, connecting the Reagan family legacy to Boston’s rich history of law enforcement.

Boston Blue is set to premiere in the fall of 2025, continuing the Blue Bloods tradition of blending family drama with police procedural elements. With Hudson’s involvement, the spinoff promises to offer a fresh yet familiar perspective on the Reagan family’s enduring influence in the world of law enforcement.
