Torrey DeVitto got extremely candid during her recent appearance on the Broad Issues podcast. She not only talked about her frustration with regards to the writing of her Chicago Med character in her final season, but she opened up about her dislike of a particular co-star.
DeVitto told Broad Issues host Rachel Bilson that she loved her time on Chicago Med for the most part, but there was one actor who she repeatedly clashed with during filming. She refused to name the cast member, but she did get specific as to why she feels they didn’t get along.
Torrey DeVitto struggled with another main cast member
“I used to think it was a me problem if I didn’t love somebody,” DeVitto admitted. “I was like, ‘Okay how can I find … that connecting force that’s within both of us.'” Upon discussing her frustrations with an energy healer, however, the actress felt more comfortable with her dislike of her co-star: “She was like ‘You can love everybody, but you don’t have to like everyone and that’s okay.’ And I was like ‘Great, well I don’t like her.'”
DeVitto acknowledged that her co-star may have been going through difficult personal experiences during the time Chicago Med was being filmed, but asserted that there’s a level of professionalism that should be upheld. Especially when the work relationship spans years.
“I can see that they’re in this and it’s probably not them,” DeVitto told the Broad Issues host. “But I don’t have the time or space right now to dig that out… That’s not somebody I’m willing to invest my time in.”
DeVitto remains close with other One Chicago stars
The actress then assured One Chicago fans that she loves “almost everyone” else she’s worked with, and remains friends with many of them. DeVitto remains friends with Nick Gehlfuss, for example, and she recently went on a trip with Chicago PD star Marina Squerciati.
Naturally, fans are curious as to which Chicago Med star DeVitto had beef with. The most likely suspect seems to be Marlyne Barrett, who was on the show during the entirety of DeVitto’s tenure. The two actresses do not follow each other on Instagram, as eagle-eyed fans pointed out.
That being, it could just as easily be someone else that we’re all overlooking. Either way, we’re glad the tension behind the scenes did not affect the show on screen.
