Tracker Clip: Randy Teams Up With Colter for a High-Stakes, Heroic Mission

A new clip from Tracker reveals a brand-new glimpse at an upcoming episode. The show, which debuted on CBS in 2024, is an adaptation of the Jeffery Deaver novel The Never Game and stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone wolf who uses his skill as a tracker to work for reward money. The Tracker cast also includes Abby McEnany as Colter’s handler Velma Bruin, Eric Graise as hacker Bobby Exley, and Fiona Rene as attorney Reenie Greene.

ScreenRant can now share an exclusive clip from the upcoming Tracker season 2, episode 17, “Memories,” which is set to premiere on April 20. In the clip, Colter asks Randy (Chris Lee) for help with hacking into an “old school” system. While Colter takes umbrage with Randy guessing which wire needs to be cut, Randy maintains his go-with-the-flow attitude and encourages Colter to manifest a good result. Colter reluctantly does, and they are able to break into the system without a hitch. See the clip below:

What This Means For Tracker

Randy Is Becoming A More Important Character

Chris Lee as Randy viewed in profile in Tracker

While Randy, who is Bobby’s cousin, is a new recurring character on the show, he has so far been in every episode of the series since his debut in season 2, episode 10, “Nightingale.” This includes the most recent episode, which was Tracker season 2, episode 16, “The Mercy Seat.” He is slowly becoming a more and more prominent character, to the point that “Memories” is set to be a Randy-centric episode. In addition to his appearance in this clip, this includes a more prominent role in the plot. Read the official synopsis of the episode below:

Randy enlists Colter’s services for his ex after her best friend goes missing following a night on the town in Reno.

This could indicate that the show is building up to have Chris Lee join the main cast of the upcoming Tracker season 3, which was renewed in February. While it is unclear exactly what the character’s fate will be by the end of the season, his potential future longevity is teased by a seemingly throwaway line from the clip, when he says that “every Batman gotta have his Robin. This could indicate that his role will continue to increase in prominence, potentially making him the first main series regular to board the show since season 1.

Our Take On The Tracker Clip

It Is An Exemplar Of The Entire Show

Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw looking nervous in Tracker

This scene is a perfect encapsulation of why Tracker has been able to capture such a wide audience over the course of its first two seasons. While it is jam-packed with comic moments due to the mismatched dynamic between Colter and Randy, Hartley’s performance consistently underlines how high the stakes of his latest mission are. Additionally, the plot continues to move along at a rapid clip while the scene balances both of these tones, propelling the high-octane thrill ride that the show has proven itself to be.
