Tracker is set in the United States, but it was not filmed there (production details on the new CBS drama)
Tracker is set to be a new crime drama on CBS of a man wandering the U.S., but where was this series actually filmed?
Tracker is set to have its big post-Super Bowl premiere, but just where was this unique new CBS crime drama filmed? Find out here!
After a long delay by the 2023 Hollywood strikes, CBS is finally getting set to unveil its 2024 slate of new episodes. The network decided to wait until the Super Bowl to do it best. This makes sense as they can use the big game to promote their lineup for a huge audience.
This also leads to Tracker getting the coveted post-Super Bowl slot for its premiere. The new drama is the first series for Justin Hartley after his long run on the NBC hit This is Us. It’s based on the novel The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver. Hartley plays Colter Shaw, a “lone-wolf survivalist” who travels the country, offering his services to find anything from a kidnapped child to missing money. But when a job goes badly, Shaw finds himself hunted and on a quest for answers.
The show has gotten a big push and looks to showcase Shaw traveling the U.S. on his various jobs. But was it really filmed in the United States?
Tracker’s real filming location revealed
As it turns out, Tracker isn’t filmed in the U.S. at all. Instead, per Hollywood North Buzz, the series was filmed in Vancouver. It used the areas from British Columbia and the Vancouver film sets to fill in for various locations in the U.S. This makes sense as Vancouver is a popular spot to film U.S. programming thanks to the lower costs, tax breaks, and being able to take advantage of the place resembling scores of places in the U.S. Thus it can stand in for anything from cities to mountainsides.
Production was to start in the summer of 2023 but was delayed by the strikes, with filming still continuing for the last episodes of the season. So when fans tune in to this new series, know it’s not actually Shaw inside the U.S.
