Randy gets to join Colter in the field for a missing persons investigation on CBS’s Tracker season two episode 17. The action takes place in Reno, and the case is personal to Randy, who’s no longer subbing in for Bobby.
(This is a recap, so there are lots of spoilers ahead!)
A woman comes to after a night of partying and calls out to a friend, asking what happened the previous night. There’s no response, and as she’s looking around, she notices she has blood on her dress. Although her first reaction is to call 911, she hesitates and decides not to.
Colter (Justin Hartley) is in Northern California when Randy (Chris Lee) calls and needs him to head to Reno as soon as possible. Colter meets Randy at the Casa D’Oro casino and learns Randy’s ex, Megan, needs his help. Randy says he’ll do anything for Megan because she’s “the one.”
Randy and Colter head upstairs to Megan’s hotel room, and she explains that Sonya, her BFF, never came back to their room. Megan (Khamisa Wilsher) is worried because she can’t remember much about the previous night. Randy thinks Megan and Sonya were roofied, and Colter wonders why Sonya’s phone is in the room without her. Megan thinks it’s possible she had Sonya’s purse because Sonya would sometimes ask her to hold it. Megan woke up with a headache and with blood on her dress; she has no idea where the blood came from. She also doesn’t know why she has blood on her knuckles.
They head to the last club Megan remembers being at, and an employee insists Megan needs to leave. He threw her and Sonya out last night after Sonya threw a bottle at a customer. The club employee hasn’t seen her since and refuses to let them look at the security footage.
Of course, Randy and Colter are quickly able to hack into the club’s security system. They spot Megan’s ex-boyfriend Troy staring at Megan and Sonya, and watch as Sonya confronts him. They leave the club after an intense argument. Colter believes Troy did something to Sonya.
Bobby (Eric Graise), who’s once again Colter’s go-to tech genius, does some quick research and learns Troy was convicted of assault and possession. It’s possible Troy drugged Megan and then did something to Sonya. Bobby uses Troy’s car’s GPS to track him and sends Colter a pin of the car’s location.
Colter recommends that Randy take Megan to the hospital to be checked out. He then heads to Troy’s car’s location and hears banging in the trunk. It turns out the man in the trunk is a stripper named Ricky the Stallion. Troy kidnapped him because he thought Ricky was hitting on Megan. He wasn’t. Ricky was just inviting Megan and Sonya to his show at the Golden Fox.
That club could have been Megan and Sonya’s next stop on their night out partying, and Colter makes it his next destination to check out for clues. There are auditions going on when Colter arrives, and the woman in character, Marlene, hopes Colter’s there to show off his pole-dancing skills. He’s not, and asks if she recognizes photos of Sonya, Megan, and Troy. She does and reveals Troy was hassling Sonya and Megan and some guys from the VIP lounge took care of Troy.
Marlene also remembers that Megan’s dress got blood on it when she punched Troy. Other than that, Megan and Sonya seemed okay and left with the men who beat up Troy. Sonya asked her where she could get married, and Marlene told them the Lucky Love wedding chapel.
Randy runs into Troy at the hospital, and Troy’s got a broken nose and other injuries. Randy’s furious that Troy roofied Megan and did something to Sonya, but Troy claims to be completely innocent of both charges. Troy admits Megan sucker-punched him, and then guys beat him up. He thinks those men took Sonya.
A quick scene shows Sonya begging her abductor to let her go and promising she won’t tell anyone.
The man running the wedding chapel greets Colter, Megan, and Randy, and recognizes Megan from the previous evening. Megan doesn’t remember any of this since she was roofied. (The flowers in Megan’s hotel room match the flowers used at this chapel.) The chapel employee says Megan tried to stop Sonya from getting married, but Sonya was adamant she wanted to marry this guy.
He shows them a video from the wedding, and the man who married Sonya roofied Megan and maybe Sonya. Colter also notices the tape shows the groom was carrying a gun. The chapel employee remembers Sonya wanted to take Megan back to the hotel to sleep it off.
They get a copy of the marriage certificate, and Bobby does some quick research. The groom is Peter Bronwen, and his best man is his brother, Nicholas. They’re British and run the family’s real estate business in America. The business has had a lot of complaints against it, and they were investigated in the UK for murder. They’re on vacation in Reno and have a short-term rental in the Reno foothills.
Randy talks his way into going with Colter to the vacation rental and immediately proves it was a wise decision to tag along when he’s able to hack into their security cameras. He puts the feed on loop but is disappointed when Colter insists that he remain in the car. (Randy claims he’s got judo skills, and Colter just chuckles.)
A man steps outside, and Colter enters while the door’s still open. He sneaks around, makes his way upstairs, and hears muffled screaming. Colter follows the noise and finds Peter tied up in a closet. After being freed, he reveals his brother ordered one of his men to take Sonya away to be killed because she saw something she shouldn’t have.
Randy’s spotted in the car by one of Nicholas’ men and brought into the house at gunpoint. Randy tries to lie his way out of the situation, but a photo of Megan and Sonya on his laptop makes it obvious he’s there to find Sonya.
Nicholas goes looking for Peter and discovers he’s been released. Peter surprises his brother by holding him at gunpoint, and Nicholas reminds him that he doesn’t know anything about his new wife. Peter insists they had a connection. Nicholas reveals what it was that Sonya walked in on: a business meeting that went south and ended with him killing the man he was meeting with.
Nicholas claims he was just protecting their family, and Peter hands over the gun.
Peter reveals that a stranger found him in the closet and set him free. Peter suggests that his brother just let Sonya go since this stranger won’t stop looking for her. Nicholas pretends he agrees and then knocks out Peter.
Colter makes it back outside and realizes Randy’s gone. Just then, Randy comes running up, yelling at Colter to go. Colter fills him in on why Sonya was taken and admits he doesn’t think they have any choice but to believe Peter.
Night falls as Randy and Colter arrive at the location Peter described. A gunshot rings out and they spot a dead body and Sonya, who’s thankfully still alive. Randy picks her up, and Sonya’s frantic about Megan. Randy assures her that Megan’s okay.
They get Sonya back to the car, and she tells them everything that happened. She saw Nicholas shoot a guy and screamed. They tied her up in a closet, and Peter stopped them from shooting her right then. Instead, Nicholas’ guy took her out to the woods. Sonya was able to distract him with a little flirting. They ended up fighting, and his gun went off, killing him.
Randy and Colter take Sonya back to her hotel, and Nicholas and his men are already there, holding Megan at gunpoint. Colter tries to calm the situation, but Nicholas orders his men to shoot all of them. Colter gives Randy the signal, and Randy causes a distraction. Colter takes out a few of the men as Sonya and Megan go after another. Randy also puts his fighting skills, which, honestly, we doubted he had, to good use. The fight almost ends with Randy being shot by Nicholas, but Colter shoots him before he can pull the trigger.
The police pick up Peter and Nicholas, and Velma reports that the cops have been after the brothers for quite a while.
Randy and Megan have a heart-to-heart, and Randy admits he messed up last time they were together. He’ll never do that again and hopes they can take it slow this time. Megan agrees and suggests they meet later for a date. Randy can’t stop smiling.
Colter’s playing roulette when Randy joins him with the good news about his and Megan’s potential relationship. Colter believes you create your own luck and that things have a way of working themselves out.
Randy wonders if Colter has anyone like Megan in his life. Colter won’t admit that he does.
