Tracker Season 3 Hints At Colter Shaw Losing Another Team Member

What makes the success of Justin Hartley’s show more impressive is the fact that it has gone through so many changes in its rather brief stint on TV. Tracker has fully overhauled Colter’s team, first with the departure of Teddi before season 2, and then followed by the exits of Velma and Bobby ahead of season 3. Right now, he’s been leaning on Reenie and Randy for support, but the recent development in his story hints that he’s about to lose another ally.

Tracker Season 3, Part 2 Hints At Keaton’s Death

Keaton in Tracker season 2

After helping solve Colter’s cold case on Tracker season 2, Keaton returned in the season 3 fall finale, “Good Trouble”, as he needed help instead. Forging a bond and friendship despite their rather brief encounters, the survivalist didn’t think twice about meeting with his friend, who was apparently trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious disappearance of his former partner. What started as a seemingly straightforward case of a missing person turned more deadly than both of them anticipated. At the end of Tracker season 3, episode 9, the pair was in a car crash.

Colter’s survival was expected; after all, CBS has already renewed for season 4. That said, Keaton is nowhere to be seen in the Tracker season 3, episode 10 trailer. For context, the retired policeman was already nursing a serious injury before the car wreck. In fact, Colter was rushing to get him to a nearby hospital to be treated. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that, between the additional injuries from the wreck and the lack of medical attention, Keaton will die in “The Fallout.”

Why Keaton’s Death Will Be A Massive Loss For Tracker

As previously-mentioned, Tracker is not new to losing characters important to Colter. He doesn’t even know Keaton as long as his other allies, such as Velma, Teddi, and Bobby. That said, what separates Brent Sexton from the rest of the show’s supporting characters is that he is usually on the ground with the survivalist. This is particularly important, considering that Colter is used to operating on his own, which means that he is the only one who is always in direct danger. Ever since he met Keaton, however, he has been a reliable and loyal ally.

Despite its ratings dominance, one storytelling flaw has haunted Tracker since its inception. Luckily, season 3 has figured out a to address it.

This gives Keaton a unique role, and it will be such a devastating loss to see him die this way on Tracker season 3. CBS doesn’t even have to consistently bring him back, but knowing that Colter has someone, at least in the Pacific Northwest area, who is willing to go to the trenches with him when a case calls for it is important. It’s a different rapport from what he has with Reenie and everyone else in his team.
