Things are heating up for Joey McIntyre.
On Monday, the New Kids on the Block artist announced on social media that he will be a guest star on this week’s episode of Chicago Fire. McIntyre will portray Lorenzo, a member of a rival fire station.
“Surprise!” he wrote alongside a series of images on set and in costume.
“Had a blast repping a rival firehouse with these good people on @NBCOneChicago fans: tune in to see me in the role of “Lorenzo” on #ChicagoFire this Wednesday at 9/8c on @NBC!”

Descriptions of Wednesday’s episode, “Under Pressure,” reveal that Lorenzo will face off against Tony (Tony Ferraris) and Capp (Randy Flagler) as they compete to break a world record.
McIntyre’s photos showcase him suited up in various fireman gear (though no full uniform!), as well as him surrounded by other members of the cast including Taylor Kinney, Ferraris, and Flager.

McIntyre’s fellow NKOTB member, Donnie Wahlberg, commented, “Let’s go” with a fire emoji on McIntyre’s post.
Wahlberg is eager to get McIntyre on network television, Back in March, Wahlberg told Andy Cohen one of his dreams is to get McIntyre on his CBS show, Blue Bloods, potentially as a love interest to his character Danny Reagan’s partner.
“Listen, I’ve been trying,” Wahlberg said of the lack of NKOTB members on the show. “It’s a no brainer for Joey to do it, and I’m sure he’d be willing if there was a good part, but it just hasn’t been the right thing.”
He elaborated that he’s told his producer at Blue Bloods this is a bucket list wish for him.
“I said, ‘Get freaking Joey on the show, because you told me you were gonna get him on the show a decade ago and we’re still waiting.’ So we’ll see. [Maybe he could be] a love interest to my partner, and I get jealous or whatever.”
For his part, McIntyre just stipulated he doesn’t want Wahlberg arresting him on air if he pops up.
“I don’t know,” McIntyre added. “If he has to take my face and put it up against a car window or something like that…. You know what I mean? We gotta have some soft boundaries around the role.”
Maybe Lorenzo can take a trip to New York.
