As Miles Penn (Deric Augustine) goes out for dinner with the sister of a member of the Eastern Front, a group who wants to take the LAPD down, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) tries to find Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) once and for all.

Nolan’s 48-hour assignment takes him and Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox) to the Sunrise Motel in the desert near Las Vegas, and there isn’t a dull moment in The Rookie season 7, episode 18, “The Good, the Bad, and the Oscar.”
What Happens At The End Of The Rookie Season 7, Episode 18, “The Good, the Bad, and the Oscar”?
At the end of The Rookie season 7, episode 18, Oscar Hutchinson knocks Nolan out at the motel’s vending machine and takes him away in his car. Showrunner Alexi Hawley promised an “action movie” vibe for the finale and he was definitely right. While it’s a terrifying scene, it manages to be funny, too, which sums up the tone of The Rookie. Oscar sings along to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and tells Nolan:

“Pat Benator is a national treasure which is fitting, you know, because we’re on a treasure hunt right now.. Well, technically, I’m embarking on a treasure hunt. For you, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is a shallow grave.”

Nyla Harper realizes Nolan is missing and requests the help of a teenage boy who is staying at the hotel with his mom since he has a drone she can use. Then, Oscar brings Nolan to a spot in the desert where there are diamonds. Oscar proves why he’s such a charming villain when he says, “It’s so nice to work with professionals.” In a shocking reveal, Oscar shares that he killed his accomplice, Reggie, and removed his arm, where he had a tattoo of the map showing where the diamonds are located. Fans looked forward to Oscar’s return, and it’s a satisfying and scary comeback. Even though Oscar plans to kill Nolan, there continue to be humorous moments, with Oscar telling Nolan because he’s been in prison most of his life,

“My default is to just go full caveman.”

Oscar wants Nolan to dig up the diamonds and tells him, “Ours is the most stable relationship I’ve ever had.” Fans know Nolan can’t stand Oscar’s frequent attempts at humor, which makes this storyline gripping. Oscar shares that Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan) helped him and Jason Wyler (Steve Kazee) leave prison, which sets up her return.

When Oscar pulls a gun on Nolan, which feels like a scene from a classic action movie, Harper tells the teenage boy to hit Oscar with his drone. This knocks Oscar out and gives Nolan time to save himself. Nolan says, “Looks like my ride’s here” as Harper drives up. Oscar nods at the helicopter coming toward them and says that’s his ride. When Oscar’s accomplices shoot at Harper’s car, Oscar manages to hop in the helicopter and escape. The scene ends with a humorous moment when the teenager says he got “killer footage.”

Next, Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) wraps up the bank robbery she’s investigating and questions the robber’s wife. Angela cracks the case and realizes the wife catfished her husband as a woman named Boyana. Then, Special Agent Matt Garza (Felix Solis) tells Angela and Wesley Evans (Shawn Ashmore) that there was an NSA security breach. It turns out it was none other than The Rookie villain Monica, who tried to receive immunity by sharing some of the intel that she got.

In the final scene of The Rookie season 7, episode 18, Lucy gets home from her night shift to find Tim cooking her favorite foods. Tim tells Lucy he would “never assume anything about our future” and that he’s been “doing the work” in therapy so he can “fix what’s broken inside of me.” Tim says he won’t hurt Lucy anymore and Tim asks Lucy to move in with him. Unfortunately, Lucy is asleep and doesn’t hear any of it, and Tim says, “To be continued.”
