UPCOMING: Donnie Wahlberg Responds to New Kids on the Block Fans Trying to Save ‘Blue Bloods’

After more than a decade on television, Blue Bloods is finally coming to an end after season 14. Of course, to the show’s army of loyal fans, this news was devastating. Though, Donnie Wahlberg (Detective Danny Reagan) has his own set of loyal fans who are sad to see him depart from his role.

Long before Wahlberg joined the cast of Blue Bloods, he was a founding member of boy band New Kids on the Block. The band is still touring today, and their loyal fanbase–known as Blockheads–is loud and proud about their love and support for the band and each of its members. When the news of Blue Bloods’s cancellation surfaced, Blockheads were quick to act in Wahlberg’s defense, demanding that CBS save the police/family drama.

Wahlberg finally addressed the Blockheads efforts after ‘Save Blue Bloods’ began trending on X, formerly Twitter. He took to the platform along with his co-stars to express their gratitude. “Happy #BlueBloods Friday to my Blockhead Family! T Minus 20 minutes and counting to an All New Episode! 10/9c @CBS While you wait, a message of gratitude from myself, the cast and crew! We appreciate your loyalty & love for our show! ❤️💙Let’s get to it!💙❤️,” he captioned his post.

“Thank you Blockheads. Didn’t have to do what you did, but you never have to do what you do. They got ‘Save Blue Bloods’ trending all over Twitter like crazy and they’re doing it again this week,” Wahlberg says in the video.

The video continues with the Blue Bloods cast, including Tom Selleck, Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan, Len Cariou, Andrew Terraciano, Vanessa Ray, Robert Clohessy, Marisa Ramirez, and the product crew all sharing a heartfelt “Thank you, Blockheads!”

Deadline reports that the show’s cancellation is due to financial strain and budget cuts at CBS, but here’s to hoping this final push by fans will indeed save Blue Bloods. Part one of season 14 is airing now every Friday on CBS, while part two is to come in fall of this year.
