Even though Virgin River Season 6 has yet to get an official release date, the next installment may have these shocking storylines – here’s what we know.
While Season 5 of Virgin River has only just wrapped up with its festive final episodes, fans are already eagerly awaiting Season 6 – although it is yet to receive an official release date.
The last episode of Season 5 Part 2 left fans on the ultimate cliffhanger, with Mel’s biological father Everett explaining that he needed to tell her something.
Though we’re already waiting for the answer to that question, one Virgin River showrunner has teased exactly what might be coming up in Season 6.
According to the report from EarlyBirdTimes, it seems likely that Everett’s news will lead to a ‘showdown’ between him and the existing father figure in Mel’s life, Doc. Though this feels like an expected plot point, another tease that’s more of a surprise concerns Doc’s health. In Season 5, fans see him face off against what could be a life-changing diagnosis, volunteering himself for a medical trial while losing his sight. However, if reports are to be believed, Doc’s sight is something he won’t lose.
One of the major storylines in Virgin River Season 6 is set to be Mel and Jack deciding to become parents. The two have had a rocky journey throughout their relationship, resulting in Mel having a miscarriage. However, the pair’s road to parenthood also feels like an inevitable conclusion to some fans.
“I don’t think Jack was ‘pushing’ her to commit to trying again, he was being supportive because she was the one who has always been desperate for a baby,” one Reddit user mused. “Refer back to the earlier seasons where they showed the flashbacks with her & Mark. She was an absolute pain in the ass. Trying again asap means ‘as soon as possible’, that doesn’t necessarily mean tomorrow, it means when possible or even when they choose which could be any time in the future. As for them getting married, who cares? They clearly don’t see it as a necessary requirement before starting a family.”
Remember Ava? You’d be forgiven for forgetting, as she’s not been seen since the start of Season 5, but Smith suggests that she’s set to make her return in new episodes – although we’re not yet sure in what capacity. In addition to this, Paige is set not to be making a return at all, while a reunion between tortured lovers Brady and Brie is set to be on the cards.
However, this doesn’t mean dramatic intensity is everything this time around, with Season 6 set to be scaling back on its infamous drama in favor of wholesome love. As well as this, we’re likely to see tensions rise between Muriel and Cameron, Pony the dog, and Preacher – who will finally have his fate revealed.
The biggest Virgin River Season 6 news is that there’s likely to be a significant jump in time. Apparently, this element is planned but expected to take shape depending on audience reaction – meaning the exact time frames are as of yet unknown.
