Virgin River has landed its season 6 filming dates, with shooting due to get underway in a matter of weeks.
The Netflix show is due to return later this year for its next batch of episodes, with the action set to follow Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and co once more.
Production on the sixth season had been delayed since the actors and writers’ strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the WGA in Hollywood. However, filming for the 10-episode season will now commence on February 2, running through until May 17 (via Creative BC).
While Virgin River fans may have a little white to wait for the upcoming season, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith recently teased the developments for the characters, confirming that there would be a time jump when the show resumes.
“Another time jump from the holidays to when season 6 starts,” he teased. “We’re going to start as soon as the Vancouver weather allows. So hopefully in the spring is what I’ve been hearing. I don’t know if I will do the holidays again. It’s sort of, been there, done that.
“I feel like we did it in such a big way that I wouldn’t even know where to start to explore. There’s no plans of wrapping anything up.
“I think, as long as these characters are living, there are always going to be stories to tell, and that’s an incredible opportunity for any showrunner.”
While Smith is looking to the future, Netflix recently basked in the past by sharing photos to mark Virgin River’s four-year anniversary, with the streamer’s official media channels sharing a post with the caption: “Fun Fact Alert! Four years ago today, the captivating journey began!”
The post was accompanied by several past photos of the show, with fans being encouraged to share their favourite memories.
