Alexandra Breckenridge has teased an announcement for the much-awaited return of Virgin River could be coming sooner rather than later.
Virgin River fans should keep their ears to the ground this week as a season six announcement could be coming very soon.
The exact release date of the next instalment is still up in the air following Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos’ confirmation that it will arrive before the end of the year.
Season six was previously expected to air in early 2025, so millions of fans are still in the dark as to when exactly their favourite show could return.
In the meantime, series lead Alexandra Breckenridge, who has portrayed Mel Monroe in all five seasons so far, has been keeping her followers as well-informed as she can.
She recently took to her Instagram with a fresh update about Mel’s next adventures with Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson).
The actress promised fans: “There’s a lot of information that’s about to come out about season six of Virgin River.
“I’m not going to spoil it for you but I’m just going to let you know that some info is going to start seeping its way out to you soon.”
With the end of 2024 fast approaching, hopefully this means an announcement is coming soon in time for Virgin River’s return around the holiday season.
Alexandra and Martin have both confirmed they’ve wrapped up their last scenes as Mel and Jack in season six, so it’s just down to the producers to finish the final edit ready for release on Netflix.
Her update comes shortly after she gave some rather controversial advice to her co-star Zibby Allen about her character Brie Sheridan’s relationship with Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth).
In their I Like You Very Much podcast, she said: “If I could give advice to Brie, or if she could give advice to Mel, what would it be? And I said, ‘Don’t get back together with Brady!'”
The star’s comments clearly sparked some ire amongst Virgin River fans, as Alexandra later had to take to social media to try and clear the air.
“I’ve already said this, so I don’t why people are still having a cow about it,” she said.
“But if you were just in the Virgin River world, and you didn’t know about anything else and you weren’t outside watching it as a TV show, you would give her the same advice.
“So can we just start from that perspective? Because that was the perspective I was given when I was asked the question.
“Now there’s a whole hullabaloo about it. I mean, everybody calm down. It’s just a TV show. It’s not real life.”
Brie has since taken a liking to Jack’s friend Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini), but will their relationship flounder or flourish next season?
