Virgin River is one of Netflix’s staples and the romantic drama last hit screens with some emotional festive specials, which saw Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) reunite with her estranged father. Filming for the new season began in February with viewers hearing season six would air sometime in early 2025.
However, the CEO of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, said Virgin River season six could air as early as the end of 2024, announcing in a Netflix Q2 earnings interview: “Just before the end of this year we’ve got Squid Game’s return, Emily in Paris’s return, a new season of Selling Sunset, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Diplomat, Virgin River, Love is Blind, Ryan Murphy has an incredible new season of Monsters. That’s all just coming up before the end of the year.”
An official release date for Virgin River season six is yet to be announced but fans are pleased to see progress has been made on the production side. They are keen to find out what information is available about the new episodes.
Season six will be made up of 10 episodes and filming wrapped at the end of May. Following the filming wrap, Jack Sheridan star Martin Henderson provided numerous behind-the-scenes updates. In an update posted on Instagram on August 5, he wrote: “Back in the booth getting post-production just right for season 6 of #Virginriver.”
Viewers are keen to find out whether any footage from the new season has been released. Here is all you need to know about whether there is a trailer for season six.
At this moment in time, an official trailer for season six has not been released, most likely because an official release date is yet to be decided.
If the episodes are slated for the end of the year, a trailer could be expected in the late autumn or early winter, in line with the previous season’s release dates.
The two festive specials were released at the end of November 2023, with the first and second seasons also airing in late November or early December.
With this in mind, a trailer could arrive around October, although this has not been confirmed.
What is known is that Colin Lawrence will be returning as Preacher, as he posted on social media about his filming experience.
He penned: “Another one in the books! That is a season 6 wrap for me on our ‘little show’. A big shout out to our hard working crew! Also, much love to our amazing fans for continuing to follow us on our journey!”John Allen Nelson was introduced in the last festive special as Mel’s father and he has been teased to have a more prominent role in season six.
In late May 2024, it was announced Virgin River’s new season would feature four new stars in recurring roles, including Gigi Neil, Erin Kathleen Boyes, Rachel Drance and Ese Atawo.
Brent Fidler will appear in a principal role and Jayce Barreiro is expected to play Roy Green.
