Virgin River Viewers Spot Vanishing Scars on Jack — “Maybe They Thought We Wouldn’t Notice”

A Virgin River fan was left confused after noticing that Jack Sheridan’s scars, which are an important part of his story, are no longer visible in Season 6 of the show

Fans of Virgin River have expressed some confusion after spotting an awkward continuity error in the sixth season of the series.

In the story, fan-favorite Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) has scars, both physical and emotional, from his past experience in the military, which has also caused him an ongoing struggle with PTSD. This means he has to deal with issues related to his combat experience and doesn’t just have physical marks, but they represent psychological wounds too, which are reflected in his relationships.

But an eagle-eyed viewer has pointed out that the physical scars can’t be seen in Season 6, which seems strange considering that they were previously visible. The Virgin River fan wrote on Reddit, “Did they forget Jack’s scars in season 6? Or maybe they thought we won’t notice they disappeared…”

Another agreed, saying, “Yes. I noticed this too.” But another fan pointed out that in Season 3 Episode 3, the scars had already gone, as they wrote, “When he opens the door to June in Season 3 Episode 3, he has no scars on his back. The last time we see his scars is in the last episode of Season 2.”

One more viewer, though, said the scars can be seen in Episode 3 of Season 4 even though “they look kinda different from Season 1.” The viewer added, ” I think they just forget about them after that. I’m always surprised that even if the production/continuity team forgets (the production quality on this show isn’t always great) then the actors themselves also don’t remember stuff like that when it’s supposed to be a key part of the character.”

Someone else agreed, “YES!!!! It’s a big part of his story…” But one wondered whether this was because of “Covid protocols and trying to limit the cast time with other people/crew,” before adding, “We know from Alex and Zibby that Covid protocols were lifted for Season 6.”

Last month, Netflix confirmed Virgin River has begun filming Season 7 – with two new Northern California residents on the way. The Vampire Diaries star Sara Canning is joining the cast as ex-cop Victoria, who was shot in the line of duty and now works for the state medical board as an investigator. Cody Kearsley, who starred in Riverdale, will play the tough, athletic Clay, who grew up in foster care with his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager.

Virgin River Season 6 followed the lead-up to Mel and Jack’s long-awaited nuptials and showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said the new season will “explore the honeymoon phase for them as they’re building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.” Patrick added that while the couple might be experiencing challenges and problems, like all couples, fans won’t need to worry about them breaking up.

“I can’t imagine creating a scenario where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up,” he said. “It forces you to dig a little bit deeper into, well, what other issues can they have in their relationship?

“Especially when you want to keep it through the romance lens. I think Alex and Martin play all of those \[moments so well], it’s just resting on emotional stakes as opposed to ‘will they, won’t they.'”
