The filmmaker is in for another neo-Western story.
Taylor Sheridan is now one of the most prominent filmmakers in modern Hollywood, with an Oscar nomination as a screenwriter, a Cannes Film Festival win as a director, and millions of fans of his TV projects.
Taylor Sheridan’s Creative Path
In 2017, Sheridan was given the right to direct a movie based on his own screenplay – Wind River, which takes viewers to the snowy mountains of a Native American settlement, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner. The film won at the Cannes Film Festival and received raving reviews from viewers and critics.
Later, Taylor Sheridan signed a contract with Paramount and since then has been working as a screenwriter and producer of several successful projects.
Yellowstone has been broadcast for five seasons, has revived the career of Kevin Costner, has the highest ratings and in general has significantly contributed to the unexpected revival of the popularity of the Western genre among viewers.
Now that he has achieved recognition, Taylor Sheridan has devoted himself entirely to creative self-expression. As for his screenplays, he says that he prefers to take absurdly simple stories and delve into the depths of the characters.
He notes that there is no need to consider the audience stupid, so he is not afraid to create complexly structured stories in his projects that require the viewers to understand the subtexts and contexts. And that is exactly what his next work will be – the Landman series.
What Will Landman Be About & When Will It Be Released?
Landman is a neo-Western, inspired by the Boomtown podcast, debuts on Paramount+ on November 17.
The series is a gripping story that explores the lives of oil rig workers and oil tycoons. Landman will show how their actions create a massive oil boom that has significant implications for the climate, the economy, geopolitics and the lives of ordinary people.
Landman’s Leading Man is a Prominent Actor
The main role will be played by Billy Bob Thornton. The actor became world famous in 1996 with the release of the drama Sling Blade, in which he starred, directed and wrote the screenplay – for which he received an Oscar.
Kevin Costner’s career got a second wind and a boost in popularity thanks to Yellowstone, let’s see how Landman will affect Thornton’s career.
