Tom Selleck Spotted in Rare Public Outing

In the story line section, it says, “Paradise Police Chief Jesse Stone is experiencing a familiar ennui-writing parking tickets and bemoaning his presence in a small town where ‘nothing much’ ever seems to happen. Suddenly Jesse is swept up in the exigencies of making sense of an unexplained death – was it a suicide or, as Jesse suspects, a murder?”

No further details have been provided as of publication.

This will mark the Magnum, P.I. alum’s first project since Blue Bloods officially ended in December 2024. Tom admitted he was sad to say goodbye to the police procedural drama after growing close to his castmates. An insider told Closer he was open to keeping the franchise alive in some capacity.

“He already misses the Blue Bloods cast and crew,” an insider told Closer in January 2025. “He would definitely do a spinoff and TV movie.”

What's Tom Selleck Doing After Blue Bloods? Next Project Revealed

Will Tom Selleck Appear in the ‘Blue Bloods’ Offshoot?

CBS announced that a Blue Bloods offshoot was in the works with the working title Boston Blue. The network tapped Donnie Wahlberg to star in the Boston-based series expansion as Danny Reagan. We’re holding out hope that some other Reagans will make appearances on the show in the future, and sources say Tom is certainly interested in making a cameo.

“They both got emotional filming their last dinner scene on Blue Bloods because it was the last, but now that this series is happening, they may get to do another,” an insider told Closer in February 2025 of Donnie and Tom’s bond. “It’s set in Boston so it won’t be a regular family dinner thing like on the last show but there’s the potential and Tom would be all for doing it.”

A separate source told Closer that Donnie contacted Tom shortly after landing the spinoff.

“They know that working and being a part of the show gave him such a purpose, not to mention the paycheck, so they do fret about him being out of sorts now that it’s over. As soon as Donnie got news that he was getting a spinoff he called Tom, he was one of the first people he wanted to talk to,” the insider told Closer in March 2025. “He let him know there will be a place for him to do walk-ons and cameos if he so chooses, it’s really a case where the ball is in Tom’s court because Donnie is a loyal and true blue guy, having Tom come on is a given.”
