Things are about to heat up in Firehouse 51. The next season of NBC’s firefighter drama is just around the corner, so read on to learn everything to know about Chicago Fire Season 13, including the release date, cast, episode count, and more.
Chicago Fire is NBC’s long-running firefighter drama that debuted in 2012. The series explores the personal and professional lives of firefighters and paramedics at the fictional Firehouse 51 in Chicago. Its success led to the creation of other hit NBC spinoffs within Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise, including Chicago Med and Chicago P.D.
After an action-packed Season 12 that featured the emotional departures of Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) and Eamonn Walker (Chief Boden), the procedural returns this fall for its thirteenth season on NBC. Here’s what to know about the new season coming to your TV screens soon.
What Will Chicago Fire Season 13 Be About?
Chicago Fire Season 13 will likely pick up where Season 12 left off, with Chief Boden retiring as Fire Chief of Firehouse 51. With the arrival of the new Fire Chief, Dom Pascal, the crew will likely face the challenge of adjusting to their new leadership.
As for Severide, the lieutenant has appeared sporadically over the last two seasons. (Kinney took a personal leave of absence for most of Season 11). Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman recently hinted at what’s next for the beloved character in the next season.
“He’s got his focus on the thing he is obsessed with, which is arson and OFI, in addition to squad, which he loves,” Newman told TVLine. “There’s a lot of politics the higher you go up in rank, and Severide has no interest in that. He’s a get-your-hands-dirty kind of guy. So arson is still very much on the forefront of his mind, the possibilities of moving to OFI are at the forefront of his mind, and all of that comes up. He’s dealing with all of that this season.”
