When is “Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2 Releasing? – Returning Cast, Storyline, Future Spin-Offs: Everything We Know So Far

Recent weeks have brought several updates about Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed series *Yellowstone*. As one of America’s top television dramas, the show’s fans have been eager for news about Season 5 Part 2. However, recent reports suggest that this may be the end of the series, leaving many fans disappointed.

Despite this, there is still hope for *Yellowstone* enthusiasts. Screenrant has reported that the show has inspired several spin-offs to keep the fanbase engaged with its storylines. However, not every journey has a happy ending. Here’s a summary of the latest updates from the *Yellowstone* team.

**Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Release Date:**

Get ready for an intense series of episodes filled with drama and potential conflict within the Dutton family. Part 1 of Season 5 aired its final episode over a year ago (January 2023), concluding with a major cliffhanger involving a possible war between two key Dutton family members, Jaime and Beth.

The first teaser for the final part of the season was released on August 30, 2024, though it revealed little. A second teaser, released shortly after, mostly showcased shots of the Dutton family home. Season 5 Part 2 is set to premiere on November 10, 2024, at 8 PM EST. The total number of episodes for this season remains unclear.

**Why Did Kevin Costner Leave Yellowstone?**

One thing is clear from the teasers: Kevin Costner will not be returning as the patriarch of the Dutton family. Costner has been involved with another project, *Horizon*, which already has two installments and a third in development. The 69-year-old actor and director explained his departure from *Yellowstone* in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter

“I gave this thing five seasons… I was really happy to do it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.”

With Costner’s departure, *Yellowstone* will likely focus on storylines outside of John Dutton’s character, such as Beth and Rip’s romance.

**Which Members of Yellowstone’s Main Cast Will Be Returning?**

So far, Kevin Costner is the only main cast member confirmed not to return. Kelly Reilly (Beth), Wes Bentley (Jaime), Luke Grimes (Kayce), and Kelsey Asbille (Monica) will be back. Paramount had hoped to continue working with Costner but had to let him go after failing to find a suitable schedule that aligned with his commitments. “While we had hoped that we would continue working with him, unfortunately, we could not find a window that worked for him, all the other talent, and our production needs in order to move forward together. We respect that Kevin has prioritized his new film series and we wish him the best.”

Gil Birmingham, Cole Hauser, Forrie J. Smith, Finn Little, and other main cast members will also return.

**Yellowstone’s Future Spin-Offs**

Screenrant has reported that *Yellowstone* will spawn two spin-offs focusing on the 1883 and 1923 periods, as well as a new series called *6666*. *6666* is expected to have some connection to Rip, potentially bridging the gap between *Yellowstone* and its spin-offs. According to Parade, *6666* is slated for release later this year.

Details about the storylines for these spin-offs have not yet been revealed, but more information may be announced after the conclusion of *Yellowstone*.
