There’s no “assembly required” for Tim Allen’s marriage to Jane Hajduk.
The Home Improvement actor and his wife dated for five years before marrying in 2006. Though they keep a relatively private life outside Hollywood, Hajduk is often by the actor’s side for his red-carpet events, including the 2020 Golden Globe Awards and the 2022 premiere of Disney+’s The Santa Clauses.
Allen (whose real name is Timothy Alan Dick) has an adult daughter, Katherine Dick, from his previous marriage to his college sweetheart, Laura Deibel. The two were married from 1984 to 1999 and finalized their divorce in 2003. He also welcomed another daughter with Hajduk named Elizabeth Allen-Dick in 2009.
Throughout the years, the comedian has shared details about his blended family, including a tidbit of Katherine being present for her sister’s birth and how they enjoy traveling together. When Allen isn’t sharing the screen with Elizabeth on The Santa Clauses, he likes staying busy with Hajduk.
“I’m doing everything I said I’d never do! But theater and golf, that’s what we like to do,” he told Parade in 2019, referencing his thoughts from his former years.
So, who is Tim Allen’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Jane Hajduk and her relationship with the actor.
She is from Pennsylvania. She was crowned the 1984 Homecoming Queen at Oil City High School. The yearbook caption from her big day read, “Jane Hajduk is overwhelmed at being announced queen, while George ‘The Stud’ Gregory remains calm.”
She is an actress. Like Allen, Hajduk has worked in Hollywood, starting her career in the early 1990s with the film Sex Crimes. After the couple began dating, they starred in the 2001 comedy-drama Joe Somebody together. Allen and Hajduk shared the screen again in 2016 for the films The Shaggy Dog and Zoom.
In addition to the movies she’s appeared in with Allen, Hajduk landed roles in several TV shows like Benchmarks, Chicago Hope, NCIS and Monk.
Off-screen, Hajduk was the voice of Sharon Carter in the 2005 video game Ultimate Spider-Man.
Her most recent roles were in two 2018 shorts, Dirty Little Secret and Unintended.
She married Allen in 2006. Allen and Hajduk dated for five years before they wed in Grand Lake, Colorado, on Oct. 7, 2006. The location was two hours from Denver, where the comedian was born.
The Toy Story 4 actor’s rep, Marleah Leslie, told PEOPLE at the time that the only guests at the intimate, outdoor ceremony were the couple’s family, including Allen’s daughter, Katherine.
She is a mom of one.
Allen and Hajduk welcomed their daughter, Elizabeth, in March 2009. Allen told PEOPLE at the time that his daughter’s birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles was a “marvelous experience.”
“[My wife] did all the work but she allowed me to be there, and I was able to physically help her on the back side of it,” he said. “I was the first one that got to look at [Elizabeth].”
Speaking about adjusting to having a newborn in the house again, Allen credited Hajduk for doing a “great job” while he maintained a busy schedule.
“She’s up and down with [Elizabeth],” he shared. “I wake up when she wakes up, but I have got to give it all to Jane.”
That same year, Hajduk told PEOPLE that Allen was “an incredible dad,” though just before Elizabeth’s birth, Allen said that he didn’t think he had parenting “down at all!”
About a month later though, the Crazy on the Outside actor expressed his thoughts on round two of fatherhood.
“I like it. I like it even better the second time,” he told PEOPLE. “I’m not so worried as I was the first time.”
When she was younger, Elizabeth rarely made appearances at her father’s celebrity outings, though she did step out in 2019 for the Los Angeles premiere of Toy Story 4. Hajduk and Allen’s older daughter Katherine were also there for the big night.
Elizabeth has since joined her parents in the family business, appearing in the 2022 Disney+ show, The Santa Clauses, as Scott Calvin’s 13-year-old daughter, Sandra. Elizabeth and Hajduk were on the red carpet in Burbank, California, for the series’s November 2022 premiere, and Elizabeth made talk show appearances with her dad to promote the show.
“I just wanted her to read and say ‘Hi, Santa!’ as a Christmas gift as an elf. Just walk by once. Just for my wife and I to have,” Allen recalled of Elizabeth’s audition during a 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “She’s great in school, my daughter’s real good in sports. We just didn’t want her getting into [Hollywood, but] she read it so well.”
She is a red-carpet regular
Tim Allen and Jane Hajduk attend the 25th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Academy Awards Viewing Party in February 2017 in West Hollywood, California.
Hajduk has been attending red carpets with her beau for almost two decades.
Her first red carpet with Allen was the 13th Annual Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine Benefit in Beverly Hills, California, in March 2004.
Since then, she’s been a supportive spouse, walking arm in arm with her husband in honor of his projects like the 2004 premiere of Christmas with the Kranks and the 2006 debut of The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.
Hajduk has also been Allen’s plus-one for major events, including multiple Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar viewing parties.
She’s traveled around the world with her husband
Tim Allen and Jane Hajduk attend the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February 2016 in Beverly Hills, California.
During a 2017 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Allen shared how he and his family traveled the world to figure out where his ancestors were from.
“We thought we were Irish … I took my family to Ireland. And then they said, ‘Oh, we think the family might be German.’ So the next trip we went to Munich. And they go, ‘No, you’re probably Scottish. So I don’t know what we are,” he said.
The Golden Globe winner also discussed the RV trip the family took at his wife’s request for one of her “big” birthdays. He bought and customized it in Wisconsin for the occasion, though he preferred their boat. The actor shared that his family enjoyed spending time on it while at their cottage in Michigan.
During a 2022 visit with host Jimmy Fallon Allen also chatted about the most recent trip he took abroad to Africa, which included safari visits.
She and her husband are “neat nicks”
While visiting The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, Allen described himself and his wife as “neat nicks” when Kelly Clarkson asked who “wins” at decorating the house. The actor shared that he attended design school and was particular about home décor placement — but so was Hajduk.
Allen joked that it caused “passive-aggressive fighting” between them about moved items, including a lighting fixture.
“I’ll come in and go, ‘Why is that lamp over there?’ … It’s literally six inches to the left,” he said. “I know she’s probably coming into the bedroom and goes, ‘Why is the lamp like that?’ And this is going on for years.”
They love celebrating the holidays
At the premiere of The Santa Clauses, Allen, Hajduk and their daughter spoke about how much their family loves Christmas.
Allen told NEWS x MUSE that for the 2022 season, all he could think about was trimming the tree. However, Hajduk and Elizabeth are much more into holiday tunes than him.
“We start listening to Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. We have a tradition,” Hajduk said before revealing that their “neat nicks” habits also happen outside their home.
“If he’s in any of our cars, he changes it, and I see it’s on a certain news channel or whatever,” she added.
