Joe Hill is the newest character to join the Blue Bloods cast as the newly-revealed grandson of Frank Reagan.
Joe probably looks familiar because he’s played by Will Hochman, who played significant roles in Let Him Go and The Code.
In case you missed it, the season 10 finale of Blue Bloods welcomed a new character to the cast: Joe Hill. Despite the different last name, Joe is yet another Reagan at heart. Specifically, he’s the son of Frank’s oldest son, Joe, who was killed on the job.
Now that Joe is an official member of the Reagan gang and has his own seat at Sunday dinner, many fans of the show are wondering why he looks so familiar.
Most recently, Will Hochman (who plays Joe) starred in the drama-thriller Let Him Go, alongside Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. Before that, Will played sergeant Jacob Kalb in The Code, a military-based drama that also airs on CBS.
While some might have found Joe’s entry into the show to be a source of drama, Uncle Danny (played by Donnie Wahlberg) says, “I like having more people at the dinner table.”
Nevertheless, it’s hard to say what the future looks like for Joe. When asked in an interview with Deadline, executive producer Kevin Wade said, “Well, that relationship was…we mapped it out over the first three episodes. I don’t want to spoil the other two but it’s a contained arc that we play where Joe Hill is faced with a decision of does he go public with the fact that he is part of this family or is he forced to go public with the and what would that affect be on him.”
