Will a surprise reunion occur in the final season of “Blue Bloods”?

BLUE BLOODS’ showrunner has revealed we might see a familiar group of faces in the last few episodes of the show.

Many fans have wondered if we will ever see all four Reagan cousins together — Joe, Sean, Nicky and Jack. They have been seen in different pairs, but never all four together. However, with just eight episodes to go before the series ends, it looks like they might be meeting up soon.

Showrunner Kevin Wade told TV Line that Joe will be “back and integral” in the last few episodes of BLUE BLOODS and that “Nicky Reagan-Boyle and both of the boys [Sean and Jack]” will appear as well.

“Whether that all adds up to Joe finally meeting Nicky and Jack, with cousin Sean also on hand, ‘will be answered in the final episode’ (airing in December), Wade said with a wink,” TV Line reported.

CBS announced last year that the popular police drama would be ending in 2024 with its fourteenth season. The first ten episodes of the season aired this spring, while the first of the final eight episodes will premiere Oct. 18.

Movieguide® previously reported on Wade’s thoughts on the finale:

BLUE BLOODS showrunner Kevin Wade explained how he and his team took cues from past series finales to write a final episode that is memorable and does justice to the show.

“I rewatched the series finales of great shows, going back to M*A*S*H and CHEERS and MARY TYLER MOORE, and certainly THE SOPRANOS… I watched a lot of them for what they might have in common,” Wade told TV Line. “What they basically had in common, if I boiled it down, is they did a great show, and then in the last few minutes they did a little pivot towards, ‘This is also the last show.’”

“[They] avoided the ‘We are now going to do a retrospective of how great we’ve been,’” Wade continued. “Because I think people tune in just to see a really good episode of the who that they have loved.”

The BLUE BLOODS finale will focus on the Reagan family and highlight the way they complement each other — something that has made the show special throughout its 14 seasons and an approach they have applied to season finales in the past.

While this is the end of BLUE BLOODS, star Donnie Wahlberg has teased potential spin-offs or new projects with the characters.

“Well, we filmed the apparent last season of BLUE BLOODS, and it’ll air starting in October. Maybe there’ll be something else after that,” he said during a Q&A session at a New Kids On The Block concert. “I don’t know anything officially yet, but there’s things in the works. So maybe something awesome will happen.”

Additionally, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins told stockholders during a meeting that “new franchise extensions are coming” for BLUE BLOODS.
