Will & Angie’s Unbreakable Bond: Will Trent Star Weighs In on Their Future

Will Trent star Erika Christensen explains why Will (Ramón Rodríguez) and Angie (Christensen) should end up together, breaking down their chemistry and potential future together. Will Trent season 3 has seen some major ups and downs in the main characters’ relationships, such as the titular character starting a potentially long-term relationship with Marion (Gina Rodriguez). However, episode 13 of season 3 solidified the idea that the titular hero still loves Angie, even after he ruined the possibility of a relationship between them at the end of season 2.

Speaking to TV Insider, Christensen explained that she’d like to see Will and Angie end up together by the end of Will Trent. The actor said that the love they have for each other is clearly still there despite their rocky relationship, having similar experiences that make them a perfect match. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen, though. Check out what Christensen had to say below:
On television, yeah, I want them to be together. They obviously love each other, and they have something that’s not necessarily better, but it’s different. It’s something that no one else can really have, right?

That’s exactly what it is. It’s that they understand each other. Not only did they grow up together and live every aspect of their lives together, but those shared experiences and what Angie went through last year or trying to do the right thing and hurting a young person, that kind of guilt and shame and everything that she had to go through there — and Will didn’t help her. Now he needs help in a similar situation.

What Christensen’s Statement Means for Will and Angie’s Future
Of all the characters on Will Trent, Will and Angie have the most history together, having grown up together in the foster system before working in law enforcement. While he was a GBI agent and she worked for the Atlanta Police Department, their shared work only brought them closer together on multiple occasions. However, this came to a head at the end of Will Trent’s season 2, when the titular hero arrested Christensen’s character after lying about Crystal not killing Lenny.

The rift between the pair continued into season 3, but that didn’t stop them from working together on more recent cases, like in episode 13. While Christensen’s words ring true about their deep connection to each other, Will also begins to question his relationship with Marion, as revealed in a hallucination. While that doesn’t mean Angie will accept his feelings for her by the time Will Trent season 4 rolls around, it does suggest that their relationship is still alive. Whether it heals enough to become romantic again remains to be seen.

Our View of Will & Angie’s Relationship as Will Trent Continues
While it seems like Will and Angie are a long way from getting back together, Christensen’s belief in their ultimate goal, coupled with the main character’s recent realization, has laid the groundwork for a spark to rekindle. While it doesn’t seem like Will Trent season 3 will officially get back together, it could hint at some things about their future. However, even if they hope their relationship continues, they may need more time to heal before they can fully commit to each other.

Will Trent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
