Actor Jake McLaughlin – who plays agent Michael Ormewood in Will Trent – recently shared his emotional thoughts about the character’s development journey, the touching moment of “turning on dad mode”, and an important revelation: a big event is waiting in the upcoming part of the hit crime series.
Michael Ormewood: From a tough image to a family man
Michael Ormewood was originally portrayed as a decisive police officer, not afraid of conflict and often confronting Will Trent. However, in the recent part, the audience began to see another side of Michael – a responsible father and companion.
Jake McLaughlin shared:
“The moment I read the script about Michael with my son, I knew this was a turning point. We wanted to show that even the toughest people have strong hearts and emotions.”
The small moments between Michael and his son make the character more relatable to viewers – that’s what makes Will Trent not just a crime series, but also a story about people, family and healing.
Jake McLaughlin: “Something big is going to happen”
When asked about what’s coming in the sequel, McLaughlin didn’t hesitate to “tease”:
“I can’t reveal much, but I can say that there’s going to be a huge twist. This will affect not only Michael but the entire investigation team. It’s the thing that excites me the most.”
This ambiguous answer has fans on the edge of their seats. Will Michael face a loss? A betrayal? Or a chance to make amends for his traumatic past?
Relationship with Will Trent: From enemy to teammate
An important highlight that cannot be missed is the journey of developing the relationship between Michael and Will Trent.
From not liking each other, the two gradually learn to cooperate and respect each other. This is also one of the factors that makes Will Trent highly appreciated by critics – the character building has depth and reasonable changes.
Jake shared more: “We – Ramón Rodríguez and I – spent a lot of time discussing to make this relationship not forced. We wanted it to be as real as possible, slowly evolving over time.”
