The CBS sitcom Ghosts debuted in October 2021 and was ranked as the 11th most-watched show of the 2023/2024 season, according to Variety. Notably, the series, which is now in its fourth season, features two actors who graduated from Wootton High School in Rockville: Utkarsh Ambudkar and Richie Moriarty.
Ghosts follows a married couple, Samantha and Jay, who believe their dreams have come true when they inherit a beautiful country home. However, they soon discover that the house is falling apart and inhabited by ghosts who died on the property, bound to the area until they can reach the afterlife. While Jay cannot see or hear the ghosts, Samantha, following a near-death experience, possesses the ability to communicate with them.
Utkarsh Ambudkar plays the role of Jay, the male lead. Born in Baltimore nearby and raised in Rockville while his parents worked at NIH in Bethesda, the 41-year-old actor is a Wootton High School graduate. He is well-known for his roles as a VJ for MTV Desi, Donald in Pitch Perfect, Rishi in The Mindy Project, and Skatch in Mulan, among others. Richie Moriarty portrays Pete Martino, one of the ghosts on the show. Martino, a Girl Scouts leader, met a tragic fate in 1985 when he was shot through the neck with an arrow. Moriarty moved to Rockville with his family at the age of five and participated in Fallsmead Elementary School. The 44-year-old actor is also a Wootton High School graduate. He has appeared in various notable projects, including FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, Netflix hits such as Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards, as well as season seven of Orange Is the New Black, among others.
