Yellowstone star Wes Bentley reveals the timeline for season 5, part 2, and hypes the impending Dutton sibling showdown. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the hit neo-Western premiered in 2018, chronicling the Dutton family’s attempts to protect their ranch in Montana. After four and a half successful seasons, Yellowstone season 5 part 2 is set to potentially bring the show to an end, with a story that features Jamie (Bentler) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) at odds.
In a recent interview with EW, Bentley reveals that Yellowstone season 5, part 2, picks up “soon after” the ending of part 1, which saw Jamie and Beth essentially declare war on each other. As for Jamie’s headspace heading into the new batch of episodes, the actor teases that his character is out for blood. Check out Bentley’s comments below:
“Jamie’s the most raw he’s ever been and the most vulnerable. He’s the angriest he’s ever been.”
What Bentley’s Update Means For Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2
How His Comments Fit Into What We Know About The Sheridan Show’s Return
The Yellowstone season 5 part 1 ending leaves viewers hanging, teasing a larger conflict to come. After Jamie makes clear his desire to impeach John (Kevin Costner), which leads to a threat from Beth, Bentley’s character is seemingly looking into ways to have her killed. Beth raises the possibility of killing Jamie to John, suggesting that season 5, part 2, may end with one of them dead.
Of course, news outside of the show has provided some hints about how this conflict will be resolved. It’s now been confirmed that Costner will not be returning as John for season 5, part 2. What’s more, it’s also been reported that Yellowstone season 6 is a possibility, with a story that will focus on Beth and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). If true, this would seemingly mean that both Beth and Rip are safe from whatever Dutton family battle is to come.
Our Take On Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2’s New Developments
The Show Could Be Going Out On A High Note
The fact that the potentially final batch of Yellowstone episodes is picking up right after the end of part 1 is probably the best move for the show, as any kind of time jump would probably take some of the wind out of the Jamie and Beth feud. Seeing a new side of Jamie, as well, one that is seemingly more angry and violent, could also make for a climactic way to end his story, if not the show at large.
Though nothing has been confirmed about the show’s future beyond season 5, part 2, the upcoming episodes could feature some major Yellowstone character deaths. It’s entirely possible that Wes won’t be making it out of the season alive, as it very much seems like the possibility of peace between him and Beth has passed. Many questions still remain about Yellowstone season 5, part 2, but viewers should evidently expect an exciting batch of episodes.
