Yellowstone Season 6 Begins: The future of Yellowstone was uncertain when Kevin Costner confirmed (for real this time) that he wouldn’t be returning, but now there’s reason to celebrate as the show will begin the way many fans wanted.
According to Puck News (via TV Line), Yellowstone will continue with Season 6 and will focus on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), a romantic couple who got married on a Live! farm and now live with their father. The two were reportedly expected to return for the Michelle Pfeiffer-led spinoff The Madison.
The news that the flagship show will continue comes as a surprise after Paramount announced that Yellowstone would end with Season 5 in May 2023.
Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, a family of ranchers who have tended to their family ranch for generations. John Dutton (Costner) heads the last family fighting to keep the farm running and protect the land from modern capitalist forces. This threat comes to a head in Season 5, Part 1, airing on Paramount Network in 2022, as John and his daughter Beth prepare to confront his son Jamie (Wes Bentley) as he attempts to remove John from the governorship. Pushed forward, what Beth called a declaration of war. Now, that war will be fought without John.
When does Yellowstone season 6 premiere?
This is not yet known. Season 5, Part 2 will premiere on November 10, 2024, almost two years after Part 1 debuted on November 22, 2022 (the midseason finale was scheduled for January 2023).
What’s next for the cast of Yellowstone?
In an interview with Radio Times earlier this year, Reilly told fans not to pay too much attention to Yellowstone rumors, downplaying talks of a spin-off while confirming that the franchise was set to continue.
The only thing I care about is finishing Yellowstone with all the care and passion and love I can put into it, he said. That’s all I care about. I’m preparing for it now [and] that’s what matters most to me from my tunnel vision.
Don’t believe everything you read. That’s just nonsense, he said of the franchise’s future, adding, I don’t have any answers at the moment. But we’ll see.
Yellowstone Season 6 Begins
Yellowstone’s June 20, 2024 announcement did not include an official cast list for Season 5 Part 2, but Costner is the only cast member so far to have confirmed their exit. For now, it’s safe to assume that most of the remaining Yellowstone cast, such as Cole Hauser, Bentley, Luke Grimes, and Kelsey Asbill, are filming the final season in Montana.
Costner’s next project was the first to contribute to his Yellowstone struggles. After production on Yellowstone was delayed, Costner’s work schedule for his four-part film saga Horizon came into conflict.
Nothing will ever be the same because of this show, whether it’s good or bad, he told People. I’m going to miss it so much. I know that. I’m ready to tell the end of the story.
The actor lives in Montana with his family and plans to make it his home for some time. If the sequel series is filmed in Montana like the original film, they’ll be close.
My wife Bianca Rodriguez Grimes and I love living there, he said. I never know what the future holds. Who knows where next and how long I’ll have to live there? I’m always ready for anything. But for the foreseeable future, I’m really in love with it.
Where can I watch Yellowstone?
All episodes of Yellowstone can currently be streamed on Peacock. Paramount’s streaming platform, Paramount+ is home to 1884 and 1923 and may be home to 2024 in the future.
Will There Be a Sixth Season of Yellowstone?
However, it seems that Paramount Network is not willing to let its most popular shows play out quietly. Deadline reports that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are in talks to co-direct the sixth season of Yellowstone.
Reilly plays Beth Dutton and Hauser plays Rip Wheeler, the foreman of the Dutton family ranch. Both actors have been with the series since the beginning, and again it makes sense since neither has a direct connection to the new characters that will be at the center of the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off, Madison. At the moment, there is no firm timetable for Yellowstone season 6 to begin filming and contracts have not yet been finalized. One thing we know for sure is that Kevin Costner will not be returning.
