The Yellowstone follow-up The Madison has gotten a huge production update and a release year. The show will be another installment in the massive television franchise, which began with the Taylor Sheridan neo-Western show of the same name and already includes the prequel spinoffs 1883 and 1923. The Yellowstone sequel show, which was confirmed amid announcements that Kevin Costner had left the cast of the flagship show and the upcoming season 5B would be its conclusion, is said to follow the rich Clyburn family moving from New York City to Montana.
Per TVLine, The Madison is expected to hit the airwaves relatively quickly, going into production later this month and airing in 2025 after the end of Yellowstone season 5B. The Yellowstone season does not yet have a finale date, but it only consists of six episodes and is expected to premiere on November 10. If it airs roughly weekly, this means that it could conclude before the end of the year, leaving the entirety of 2025 open for The Madison to premiere.
When Could The Madison Premiere?
Although the new Yellowstone spinoff is due in 2025, it remains to be seen when exactly it premieres. Although it seems to be the case that the entire year is open for it to debut, it will take some time for production to wrap. Typically, principal photography on shows in the franchise takes between four and five months, meaning The Madison may not even wrap production until late January 2025.
While post-production is a less lengthy process for the Yellowstone franchise than for more special effects-heavy shows, it could still take some time and result in further delays before The Madison premieres. It ultimately seems likely that it could be ready to premiere by June, when the first three seasons of Yellowstone also premiered. No show in the entire franchise has premiered earlier than summer, so that seems like the earliest prospect in 2025, though a December premiere also wouldn’t be entirely out of the question, following in the footsteps of 1883 and 1923.
The Madison may end up conflicting with the release schedule of 1923 season 2, however, as the new season of the spinoff reportedly began shooting as early as June. Since both shows will likely be ready to air at relatively the same time, producers may still be making decisions about whether to delay the known quantity in order to see if the new show delivers for audiences first. However, if the production sticks to the planned release year, the premiere is at the very least no more than 17 months away from the time of writing.
