Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly opens up about her ideal ending for her character Beth Dutton. Reilly has been a part of Yellowstone’s cast since the show’s beginning, steadily turning Beth into one of the Western drama’s breakouts. But even as the hit series prepares to sign off later this year and Beth is on a potentially deadly collision course with her sibling Jamie, recent reports have suggested that Reilly’s time with the popular television franchise may not be over yet.
In a recent interview with TVLine, Reilly shared what she thought would be an ideal ending for Beth ahead of Yellowstone season 5 part 2. The show will resume filming this summer, with new episodes debuting November 10 on the Paramount Network, and Reilly says that she hopes Beth finds peace. Although the actor acknowledges that such a fate may not be possible, she believes that Beth can still find it. Read her quote below:
Peace, I think. As possible as it is for any of us. Peace requires some digging and some surrender and letting go of old pains and hurts. I certainly believe that she can find that. Whether or not that’s possible, I don’t know. She’s such a warrior, isn’t she? Her reason to be is to protect. Her reason to be is to fight. But I’d like to see that for her.
I question potentially whether happiness is allowed. Over the seasons, we’ve been able to see where it might exist. But she’s taken out of it so quickly. Maybe there’s a future where she’s not sort of yanked out of her happiness.
Beth May Have A Way To Go Before She Finds Peace
According to a recent report, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, and Reilly are finalizing their deals and will reprise their respective roles as Rip Wheeler, Kayce Dutton, and Beth Dutton in the next Yellowstone spinoff. The report has not been confirmed and not much is known about the next spinoff except that it hails from franchise creator Taylor Sheridan and could potentially star Matthew McConaughey.
Well before the spinoff, however, Beth is poised to face off against Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley). Fed up with Jamie’s scheming and plotting against John Dutton (Kevin Costner), she confronts Jamie and hits him with a rock. She’s ready to take him down with compromising photos, but he’s one step ahead. Jamie reveals that he has incriminating photos of his own, which would indicate where all the deadly Dutton secrets are buried and seriously damage the family. The situation only escalates from there, as the siblings sound quite willing to murder each other.
Reilly, who currently stars in the Paramount+ movie Little Wing, hopes that Beth can move beyond the conflict and the angst. But there’s at least one major hurdle that she’ll have to face once Yellowstone comes back with its last batch of episodes in just a few months. Maybe when the showdown with Jamie is finally over, Beth can find some semblance of peace.
