‘Yellowstone’ throws a curve ball at Jamie as John and Beth make plans for the future
“I’m really surprised,” John Dutton (Kevin Costner) tells Governor Perry (Wendy Moniz) in the latest Yellowstone episode, and in this case, it means especially bad news for Jamie (Wes Bentley), who was already estranged from the family that adopted him. As for Beth (Kelly Reilly), who has made her (murderous) feelings about her brother very clear, she ultimately enjoys the position he takes.
While Jamie spends time with his son, his biological father Garrett (Will Patton) brings up the idea of him as a politician – specifically a governor – to his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Christina ( Katherine Cunningham). And he’s not the only one who thinks so. In fact, Perry later tells John that she is planning to run for the senate (to go where she can make the biggest difference) and endorses Jamie to take over for her. “Absolutely not,” John said immediately. “It’s too strong.”
But the other options don’t want Montana as much as they want it, Perry argues. He says there are things about Jamie she doesn’t know that make him unsuitable for her office. “He is the devil we know, John. I’ll take the risk,” she told him — or he could run, and she would endorse him. He decided to accept her endorsement, and he ran so his son couldn’t because of “how bad it would be for everything you and I have worked so hard to preserve.” guard. He will destroy everything,” John explained. “If you want a demon you really know, here he is.”
Beth was completely on board when he told her and assumed this was their way of getting rid of Jamie due to “any of the 50 damn things Jamie has done that disqualify him from holding public office .” Additionally, as governor, John would essentially have the power to stop airport construction. This is another way to save the farm. It’s so bad that John was hoping for help to find a way out of it.
So poor Jamie checks her appearance in the mirror before going to Governor Perry’s press conference and thinks she’s about to endorse him. To his surprise, John and Beth are waiting with her. His father told him that they wouldn’t miss this for the world. But when Governor Perry announced her selection as the next governor, Jamie started walking down the stairs and was crushed when she called out John’s name.
